Porsche Macan Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |

| Superbly made cabin | Tight on rear-seat space |
| Performance and Porsche badge kudos | You can buy more practical SUVs for less |
| Lovely driving dynamics across the board | Diesel engine option was dropped in 2018 |
Quick Summary
The Porsche Macan is a compact SUV that delivers superlative driving dynamics and a superbly crafted interior. Available in four petrol variants—the base Macan, Macan T, Macan S and Macan GTS—each offers engaging performance and responsive handling that few rivals can match. The entry-level models use a 261bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, whilst the S and GTS employ a 375bhp and 434bhp twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 respectively. All versions feature all-wheel drive, a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox and class-leading roadholding that makes the Macan a joy to drive on winding roads.
Practicality is respectable rather than exceptional, with a 458-litre boot expanding to 1,503 litres with rear seats folded. Rear legroom is tight for tall adults, making it more suited to four occupants than five. The cabin is exceptionally well made with quality materials throughout, whilst the 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system on post-2021 models is intuitive and user-friendly. Fuel economy ranges from 26.4-27.9mpg for the base models to 24.1-24.9mpg for the GTS. Porsche servicing is expensive, though intervals of every two years or 20,000 miles help manage costs. Residual values remain strong, and used examples offer excellent value compared to new prices.
Best for: Drivers prioritising engaging driving dynamics and premium quality, those seeking a sporty SUV with Porsche heritage, and buyers wanting impressive performance without sacrificing everyday usability.
Not ideal for: Those requiring maximum rear-seat space, families needing a five-seater, or buyers seeking the lowest running costs in the SUV segment.

The Verdict
You should buy the Macan if: You prioritise engaging driving dynamics and premium quality, seek a sporty SUV with Porsche heritage, or want impressive performance without sacrificing everyday usability.
Consider alternatives if: You require maximum rear-seat space, need a five-seater, or are seeking the lowest running costs in the SUV segment.
Competitive Position: The Porsche Macan stands out in the compact SUV market for its exceptional driving dynamics and superbly crafted interior. Whilst the BMW X3 edges ahead on expert rating and the Audi Q5 scores highest with users, the Macan's combination of performance, quality and Porsche badge appeal makes it uniquely compelling. It may not offer the practicality of some rivals, but for drivers who value engaging handling and premium feel, the Macan delivers an unmatched experience. The entry-level four-cylinder model offers remarkable value, whilst the GTS provides supercar-rivalling performance in SUV form.

4.5 Overall rating
(14 reviews)Great SUV , well built drives brilliantly and in my opinion the best SUV on the road
Excellent car all the luxury I’ve grown to expect in my new car Diesel engine too so economical also
An SUV that drives like a sports car, brilliant Road holding for such a large car.
Holds it value better than any other SUV , stylish and lots of guts . Expense !!
The car is older than i would like, it has many additional features that I wanted, The mileage is reasonable. The long term use will prove whether it is worth paying so much for a Porsche.
