Renault Master (2024-present) Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Comfortable driving experience	Average payload and capacity figures
Pleasant interior	Not the cheapest offering
Logical infotainment system	Inconsistent pedal feel in the diesel

Quick Summary

The Renault Master (2024-present) is the newest large panel van on the market, offering a fresh driving experience with modern technology and comfort. Available in two lengths and two heights, it provides load volumes ranging from 10.8 to 14.8 cubic metres, with payloads between 941kg and 1,482kg. The van features a spacious three-seat cabin with excellent visibility, supportive seating, and 135 litres of storage space. Its aerodynamic design and contemporary styling set it apart from ageing rivals, whilst the intuitive 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with optional Google Built-In integration enhances usability.

Powertrain options include three diesel engines (130PS, 150PS, and 170PS) and an all-electric E-Tech variant with 140PS and an 87kWh battery offering 255-285 miles of range. The diesel engines deliver flexible performance with real-world fuel economy between 25.7 and 37.2 mpg, whilst the E-Tech provides responsive acceleration and lower running costs. Ride comfort is notably good for the class, with light steering and a tight turning circle making urban driving manageable. Charging the E-Tech at home costs around £20 for a full charge, with DC rapid charging available for urgent top-ups. Prices range from approximately £41,000 for diesel models to £51,000 for the electric variant.

Best for: Operators seeking a modern, comfortable large van with contemporary technology, those prioritising comfort and ease of driving, and businesses considering electric van options with reasonable range.

Not ideal for: Buyers requiring maximum payload or load capacity, those on the tightest budgets, or operators needing the most established service networks.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the Master if: You seek a modern, comfortable large van with contemporary technology, prioritise ease of driving and comfort, or are considering electric van options with reasonable range.

Consider alternatives if: You require maximum payload or load capacity, are on the tightest budgets, or need the most established service networks.

Competitive Position: The Renault Master (2024-present) stands out as the freshest offering in the large van market, combining modern design, comfortable driving dynamics, and intuitive technology. Whilst it trails some rivals in payload and load capacity, it remains competitive in these crucial areas. Its pricing sits in the mid-range compared to competitors, and the electric E-Tech variant offers an appealing alternative for environmentally conscious operators. The Master's superior comfort, modern infotainment, and newest platform make it a compelling choice for those prioritising contemporary features and driving experience over absolute maximum capacity.
