Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fantastically practical | Some potential reliability issues |
| Sliding doors a real boon | Ford S-Max is better to drive |
| Surprisingly enjoyable to drive | Luggage space tight with all seven seats in place |
Quick Summary
The Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) is a seven-seat MPV that represents one of the most practical family vehicles available on the used market. This second-generation model marked a significant improvement over its predecessor, offering increased cabin space, improved shoulder room, and legroom for all passengers. With electrically operated sliding doors, integrated child seats, and clever folding mechanisms, the Alhambra is exceptionally family-friendly. Boot space reaches 2,430 litres with both rear rows folded away, making it ideal for families requiring maximum versatility.
The Alhambra delivers surprising driving enjoyment for an MPV, with responsive steering, excellent body control, and a comfortable ride that rivals the Ford S-Max. Engine options include a 1.4-litre TSI petrol and various 2.0-litre TDI diesels ranging from 113bhp to 181bhp, with manual or DSG automatic transmissions available. Diesel models offer superior fuel economy, achieving 40-57.6mpg depending on specification, whilst insurance groups remain competitive from group 13 upwards. The 2015 facelift introduced improved infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, enhanced safety systems, and more efficient engines. Whilst reliability concerns exist, a well-maintained example with full service history represents excellent value for families prioritising practicality and driving comfort.
Best for: Large families requiring maximum practicality, those needing seven seats with genuine space for all passengers, and buyers seeking an MPV that's enjoyable to drive.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising the sharpest handling (Ford S-Max excels here), buyers seeking the latest infotainment technology, or those unwilling to accept potential reliability issues.

5 Overall rating
(3 reviews)VN66KZH So far so good. Runs really well and very clean and tidy. Definate improvement on my earlier model. Good price.
Very comfortable and spacious with lots of good features. Kids love the panoramic roof!
Giving it 5* as it does look nice in battleship grey as I call it, and it drives lovely, has a lot of toys, 240v inverter, blinds in rear doors are just to name some of the items that were not mentioned.. to get the same spec in the VW Sharan, you would probably look at an additional £2k However, the leg space in the 2nd row isnt the best, felt there is more in a Vauxhall Zafira. And if I would have really searched I would have preferred the same spec car but without leather, not a fan of sticky back and legs!
