Certainly showing no signs of age other than slightly clunky graphics on the control screen. Great fun to drive.

I dont think theres anything to find fault with. Its a well-thought out car. As a family we do big drives up and down and across the UK. A 12-hour journey is a common occurrence, the key to which is ensuring the teenagers/young adults are comfortable. There are other family SUVs available that would do the job, but frankly having what may be referred to as a premium vehicle does not interest me, the Kodiaq does it all very well and has all the ride quality of a vehicle that is far more expensive. So far, so good.

Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Exceptional interior space and practicality | Interior quality feels less premium than the previous model |
| Available in petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid configurations | Ride comfort is compromised at low speeds, especially on larger wheels |
| Competitive pricing for a seven-seater SUV | Plug-in hybrid not available with seven seats |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a highly practical and spacious large family SUV that excels in delivering comfort, value, and versatility. Available in five or seven-seat configurations, it offers generous boot space ranging from 745 to 910 litres depending on powertrain and seating choice. The second-generation model features petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options, with the range-topping vRS delivering 261bhp and all-wheel drive. Well-equipped across all trims with modern technology including a 13.0-inch infotainment screen and wireless charging, the Kodiaq provides excellent practicality for families.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine achieves around 40mpg in mixed driving, whilst the 2.0-litre diesel delivers real-world 46mpg, making it ideal for motorway journeys. The plug-in hybrid offers approximately 60 miles of electric-only range with 50kW rapid charging capability. Whilst the ride can feel firm at low speeds on larger wheels and interior materials are less premium than the previous generation, the Kodiaq remains a sensible choice for those prioritising space, practicality, and value over premium badge appeal or dynamic handling.
Best for: Families needing spacious seven-seat accommodation, those seeking versatile powertrain options, and buyers wanting competitive pricing for a large SUV.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising premium interior quality, drivers seeking engaging handling dynamics, or buyers requiring a plug-in hybrid with seven seats.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 37.0% | 4.4/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the Kodiaq if: You need spacious seven-seat accommodation, seek versatile powertrain options, or want competitive pricing for a large SUV.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise premium interior quality, seek engaging handling dynamics, or require a plug-in hybrid with seven seats.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a strong contender in the large family SUV market, offering exceptional practicality and competitive pricing. Whilst the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento edge ahead with slightly higher overall ratings and premium feel, the Kodiaq matches them on user satisfaction and value. The Nissan X-Trail boasts the highest user rating, but the Kodiaq's superior expert rating and flexible powertrain options make it an excellent choice for families prioritising space and versatility over premium badge appeal.
