Certainly showing no signs of age other than slightly clunky graphics on the control screen. Great fun to drive.

I dont think theres anything to find fault with. Its a well-thought out car. As a family we do big drives up and down and across the UK. A 12-hour journey is a common occurrence, the key to which is ensuring the teenagers/young adults are comfortable. There are other family SUVs available that would do the job, but frankly having what may be referred to as a premium vehicle does not interest me, the Kodiaq does it all very well and has all the ride quality of a vehicle that is far more expensive. So far, so good.

Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Exceptional interior space and practicality | Interior quality feels less premium than the previous model |
| Available in petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid configurations | Ride comfort is compromised at low speeds, especially on larger wheels |
| Competitive pricing for a seven-seater SUV | Plug-in hybrid not available with seven seats |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a highly practical and spacious large family SUV that delivers excellent value for money. Available in five or seven-seat configurations, it offers generous boot space ranging from 745 to 910 litres depending on powertrain and seating choice. The second-generation model features a range of powertrains including a 1.5-litre TSI petrol with mild hybrid technology, a 2.0-litre TDI diesel, and a plug-in hybrid option with up to 60 miles of electric-only range. The range-topping vRS variant provides 261bhp and all-wheel drive for those seeking more performance.
Comfort and practicality are standout strengths, with well-designed seating, ample storage, and thoughtful touches throughout. The 1.5-litre petrol achieves around 40mpg in mixed driving, whilst the diesel delivers real-world 46mpg, making it ideal for motorway drivers. Running costs are competitive, with servicing available on an annual or condition-based schedule. However, interior materials feel less premium than the previous generation, and ride comfort can be compromised at low speeds, particularly on larger wheels. The adaptive suspension system (DCC) is a worthwhile option for improved refinement.
Best for: Families needing spacious, practical seven-seater accommodation, those seeking versatile powertrain options including plug-in hybrid, and buyers prioritising value and comfort over premium badge appeal.
Not ideal for: Those wanting premium interior materials comparable to rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan or Hyundai Santa Fe, or drivers prioritising dynamic handling and sportiness.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 43.9% | 4.5/5 |
| Hyundai Santa Fe | 5/5 | 4.6/5 | 32.8% | 4.5/5 |
| Nissan X-Trail | 4/5 | 4.9/5 | 33.1% | 4.4/5 |
| Kia Sorento | 5/5 | 4.8/5 | 27.0% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Kodiaq if: You need a spacious, practical seven-seater SUV, seek versatile powertrain options including plug-in hybrid, or prioritise value and comfort over premium badge appeal.
Consider alternatives if: You want premium interior materials comparable to the Volkswagen Tiguan or Hyundai Santa Fe, or prioritise dynamic handling and sportiness.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) remains a highly competitive choice in the large family SUV segment, offering exceptional practicality, space, and value. Whilst the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento may offer more premium feel and styling, the Kodiaq excels in delivering comfort, versatility, and competitive pricing. The Nissan X-Trail provides strong user satisfaction, but the Kodiaq's seven-seat flexibility and powertrain options make it an excellent all-rounder for families seeking maximum practicality without compromising on value.
