Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Exceptional interior space and practicality | Interior quality feels less premium than the previous model |
| Available in petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid configurations | Ride comfort is compromised at low speeds, especially on larger wheels |
| Competitive pricing for a seven-seater SUV | Plug-in hybrid not available with seven seats |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a highly practical and spacious large family SUV that delivers exceptional versatility. Available as a five-seater or seven-seater, it offers generous boot space ranging from 745 to 910 litres depending on configuration. The second-generation model provides multiple powertrain options including a 1.5-litre petrol with mild hybrid technology, a 2.0-litre diesel for efficiency, and a plug-in hybrid with up to 60 miles of electric-only range. The range-topping vRS variant features a 261bhp turbocharged petrol engine with all-wheel drive, delivering 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds.
Comfort and practicality are the Kodiaq's strongest suits, with well-designed seating, ample storage, and thoughtful features throughout. The 1.5-litre petrol achieves around 40mpg in mixed driving, whilst the diesel delivers real-world 46mpg, making it ideal for motorway journeys. Pricing starts under £40,000, offering competitive value in the large SUV segment. However, interior materials feel less premium than the previous generation, and ride comfort can be compromised at low speeds, particularly on larger wheels. The optional adaptive suspension (DCC) significantly improves ride quality and is worth considering.
Best for: Families needing spacious seven-seat accommodation, those seeking versatile powertrain options including plug-in hybrid technology, and buyers prioritising practicality and value over premium badge appeal.
Not ideal for: Those wanting premium interior quality comparable to rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan or Hyundai Santa Fe, drivers prioritising dynamic handling, or those requiring plug-in hybrid with seven seats as standard.

The Verdict
You should buy the Kodiaq if: You need spacious seven-seat accommodation, seek versatile powertrain options including plug-in hybrid technology, or prioritise practicality and value over premium badge appeal.
Consider alternatives if: You want premium interior quality comparable to rivals, prioritise dynamic handling, or require plug-in hybrid with seven seats as standard.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a strong contender in the large family SUV market, offering exceptional practicality, spaciousness, and competitive pricing. Whilst the Kia Sorento edges ahead with a higher expert rating and the Hyundai Santa Fe offers more premium appeal, the Kodiaq excels in delivering versatile powertrain options and outstanding value. Its seven-seat flexibility, generous boot space, and choice of petrol, diesel, or plug-in hybrid engines make it an excellent choice for families seeking practicality without premium pricing. The optional adaptive suspension significantly enhances ride quality, making it a sensible investment for those prioritising comfort.

(6 reviews)Great car - exceeds my expectations- quality and very practical and stylish
Car is comfortable and family oriented . It is very good value .
Certainly showing no signs of age other than slightly clunky graphics on the control screen. Great fun to drive.
I dont think theres anything to find fault with. Its a well-thought out car. As a family we do big drives up and down and across the UK. A 12-hour journey is a common occurrence, the key to which is ensuring the teenagers/young adults are comfortable. There are other family SUVs available that would do the job, but frankly having what may be referred to as a premium vehicle does not interest me, the Kodiaq does it all very well and has all the ride quality of a vehicle that is far more expensive. So far, so good.
It is the perfect car for us as we have dogs and horses so a great mix of reliability and it looks good but didnt cost the earth
