The Suzuki Vitara has garnered positive feedback for its compact size, making it easy to park and drive. Owners appreciate the vehicle's comfort, impressive visibility, and the feel-good handling it offers. However, some noted issues with road and wind noise that can detract from the overall driving experience. The boot space could be larger, but most find it acceptable, contributing to the vehicle's good value for the price.

Unlike many 4wd cars that are the size of tanks, the Vitara is compact outside which makes for easier parking and driving in narrow spaces. Its comfortable and has great all-round views through large windows. Theres some road and wind noise which spoils the experience but its a feel-good drive that handles easily. The shape is a personal choice but I think it stands out from most big-car style 4wds. Boot space could be bigger but its not a deal changer for me. I really like this car and Ive had about 15-20 in my lifetime (some wrecks, some gems) but Id recommend the Vitara.

Reasonably good value for price compared with market competition . Sufficient extras for the senior driver.

I would say this car has too any good features to list, but the main thing with this particular model is it's proven reliability . And it's great value for money.

Suzuki Vitara (2015-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Good to drive, and comfortable too | Disappointing interior quality |
| Lively 1.4-litre engine | 1.0-litre model is quite slow |
| Lots of space inside | Vague steering |
Quick Summary
The Suzuki Vitara (2015-present) is a compact SUV that punches above its weight in the crowded small SUV market. Launched in 2015, it offers a compelling blend of practicality, driving enjoyment, and versatility. With generous interior space, comfortable seating for four adults, and a boot offering 289-362 litres depending on powertrain, it delivers genuine usability. The Vitara's agile handling and responsive steering make it engaging to drive, whilst the availability of automatic gearboxes and four-wheel drive across the range adds flexibility for different driving needs and preferences.
Engine options include a 1.6-litre diesel achieving around 55mpg, a 1.6-litre petrol delivering approximately 40mpg, a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol with similar economy, and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol achieving 45-50mpg. Servicing costs are competitive, with fixed-price packages available through Suzuki dealers. The Vitara boasts an excellent reliability record and comes well-equipped across all trim levels, including air-conditioning, alloy wheels, and touchscreen infotainment with satnav on most models. However, interior plastics feel budget-conscious compared to rivals, and the suspension can feel firm over poor road surfaces.
Best for: Buyers seeking a practical, spacious, and enjoyable compact SUV with excellent value, those wanting four-wheel drive or automatic transmission options, and drivers prioritising reliability and low running costs.
Not ideal for: Those demanding premium interior quality, buyers seeking the softest ride, or those sensitive to wind and road noise.

The Verdict
You should buy the Vitara if: You want a practical, spacious, and enjoyable compact SUV with excellent value, desire four-wheel drive or automatic transmission options, or prioritise reliability and low running costs.
Consider alternatives if: You demand premium interior quality, seek the softest ride, or are sensitive to wind and road noise.
Competitive Position: The Suzuki Vitara (2015-present) is an excellent choice in the competitive compact SUV market. It offers a compelling combination of driving enjoyment, practicality, and versatility that rivals struggle to match at this price point. Whilst the Seat Arona edges ahead on overall rating and the Citroen C3 Aircross offers slightly better value deals, the Vitara's superior user rating, engaging driving dynamics, and excellent reliability make it a standout proposition. It's a small SUV you'll be proud and pleased to own, offering genuine substance alongside smart looks and comprehensive equipment.
