It has a long and enviable history of excellence, combining load-lugging capability with bulletproof reliability. Today, it’s done its best to stay competitive against rivals that have embraced the lifestyle pick-up customer; those that want a truck as much for looks and comfort as for industrial capacity. It remains an excellent machine, particularly if you want to work it hard, and while some rivals are more refined and car-like, few can match its all-round appeal.

Always liked the Hilux. Feel very safe. Very easy to drive, cover ground well. Extra cab gives you a extra room with out feeling enormously to big to park

Lovely looking truck inside and out apart from underneath. This truck has rust problems underneath rear chassis and bed the rust has just been painted over and tried to be hidden. Paint is all peeling and rust is obvious when you look underneath the back end.

With one Hilux already in the stable, we have been searching for a second, to take on the duties of going off road on hilly Exmoor, and to pull a heavy stockbox full of sheep. The Hilux is tough, reliable and very good too when the tarmac runs out
