Volvo V60 (2018-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Crisp styling inside and out | VW Passat and Skoda Superb offer bigger boots |
| Supreme long-distance comfort | A 3 Series is more exciting to drive |
| An interesting alternative to a BMW or Mercedes | Interior quality good rather than sparkling |
Quick Summary
The Volvo V60 (2018-present) is a stylish and practical estate car, upholding Volvo's reputation for safety and design. Positioned against premium German rivals like the BMW 3 Series Touring and Audi A4 Avant, it offers crisp styling, useful technology, and a comfortable, refined driving experience. Its 529-litre boot (expanding to 1,441 litres) and generous passenger space make it highly practical for families, though ultimate load capacity is surpassed by some rivals like the Skoda Superb Estate.
All V60s feature an eight-speed automatic gearbox, with a range of petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid (Recharge) powertrains, some offering all-wheel drive. While not the most engaging to drive, it excels in long-distance comfort and effortless cruising. Running costs are competitive, especially for PHEV models or efficient diesels, and comprehensive standard safety equipment contributes to reasonable insurance. It represents a desirable alternative for those seeking sophistication, space, and a relaxed driving approach.
Best for: Drivers who value sophisticated design, plentiful standard equipment, long-distance comfort, and safety, or seek a practical and stylish estate car that stands out from German rivals.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising ultimate driving excitement (like a BMW 3 Series Touring) or requiring the absolute largest boot capacity (like a Skoda Superb Estate).

4.5 Overall rating
(11 reviews)Very comfortable solid and feels well built a change from German cars
It is a solid safety orientated car. Full of useful gadgets and comfortable to drive. I would have preferred it to have a spare wheel instead of the inflatable foam as any blow out would mean that it could not be driven. In any case once you use the expanding foam it would mean that you would have to replace the tire instead of getting it repaired.
The car was great value for money , a lot of good features and an excellent drive
Solid, safe and reliable car. Excellent economy with plenty of room.
I am really impressed with all the safety features and the build quality of this car. Now I know why my son loved his Volvo cars.
