Volvo XC60 Review (2008-2017)

The first-generation Volvo XC60 was one of the best five-seat SUVs when it was a new car, and the years have been kind to it. Well over a decade after it went on sale, and several years after it was replaced by an updated model, this version of the XC60 still looks good. It's a practical and roomy car with a choice of powerful engines. The Volvo is a strong alternative to an Audi Q5 or BMW X3.

The XC60 is a wonderful car for touring and the longer distances. The seats are very comfortable and you get a god all round view of other road users. The 2.4 engine is flexible and will give around 40-45 MPG; the 2.0 litre is much more economical and has a lower road tax.

The specification of the engine is ideal and it is one of the most economic engines for its size. Ideal for towing if required and easy on the fuel on a journey. Re-setting the clock is the only gripe I have so I leave it alone! The only other car I would chose is the Honda CRV but this has less leg room for taller persons.

The xc60 is in a class of its own, a superb suv and it is affordable. It sits in the higher range of medium sized suv, and the d5 auto version is without doubt the best all round car I have ever driven.
