The Volvo XC60 remains one of the most appealing mid-size SUVs for buyers who value comfort, safety and understated luxury over sportiness or excitement. A 2025 update sharpens the cabin experience with a faster infotainment system and improved quality, while a simplified range of petrol and plug-in hybrid engines keeps things easy to understand. It may not be the most appealing SUV to drive, nor the cheapest to buy, but as a safe, reassuring and family-friendly all-rounder, the XC60 continues to justify its popularity around the world.

The XC60 is a wonderful car for touring and the longer distances. The seats are very comfortable and you get a god all round view of other road users. The 2.4 engine is flexible and will give around 40-45 MPG; the 2.0 litre is much more economical and has a lower road tax.

If it has the 2.4 litre engine and a manual gearbox you get wonderful economy and the flexibility to overtake from low speed is tremendous.

Most other cars will be lucky to make it to 150000 miles. The Volvo is DESIGNED. to do 300 thousand. Keep it serviced and you will never need any other car.

The specification of the engine is ideal and it is one of the most economic engines for its size. Ideal for towing if required and easy on the fuel on a journey. Re-setting the clock is the only gripe I have so I leave it alone! The only other car I would chose is the Honda CRV but this has less leg room for taller persons.
