Volvo XC90 2026 review | Luxurious SUV with a dash of Swedish style

The Volvo XC90 is a familiar sight on UK roads, often spotted on the school run. A dependable, comfortable and spacious seven-seater, it has been transporting families and their dogs for more than two decades. Having been treated to a second facelift in 2024, this second-generation XC90 isn’t as fresh as the premium seven-seat rivals from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Nonetheless, it is still worth considering. The XC90 feels as charming as ever, and with two economical powertrains – a mild-hybrid and a plug-in hybrid – plus new tech such as over-the-air software updates, it remains a solid choice.
