Giving it 5* as it does look nice in battleship grey as I call it, and it drives lovely, has a lot of toys, 240v inverter, blinds in rear doors are just to name some of the items that were not mentioned.. to get the same spec in the VW Sharan, you would probably look at an additional £2k However, the leg space in the 2nd row isnt the best, felt there is more in a Vauxhall Zafira. And if I would have really searched I would have preferred the same spec car but without leather, not a fan of sticky back and legs!

Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fantastically practical | Some potential reliability issues |
| Sliding doors a real boon | Ford S-Max is better to drive |
| Surprisingly enjoyable to drive | Luggage space tight with all seven seats in place |
Quick Summary
The Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) is a spacious and practical seven-seat MPV that represents a significant improvement over its predecessor. Longer and wider than the original model, it offers genuine room for all seven occupants with improved shoulder and legroom throughout. The sliding doors are particularly beneficial in tight car park spaces, whilst integrated child seats and Isofix mounts across all rear seats make it exceptionally family-friendly. With up to 2,430 litres of boot space when seats are folded, it's one of the most versatile vehicles available.
Despite going out of production in 2020, the Alhambra remains a compelling choice for families needing genuine seven-seat practicality. It offers a choice of 1.4 TSI petrol and 2.0 TDI diesel engines, with the latter delivering superior economy and performance when fully loaded. The 2015 facelift brought improved fuel efficiency and modern infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Whilst some reliability concerns exist, a well-maintained example with full service history offers excellent value. The Alhambra is surprisingly engaging to drive for its size, with decent body control and comfortable ride quality, though the Ford S-Max edges it for outright driving dynamics.
Best for: Families requiring genuine seven-seat practicality, those needing maximum versatility and boot space, and buyers seeking a comfortable, engaging MPV with sliding doors for easy access.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising the sharpest driving dynamics, buyers unwilling to accept potential reliability issues, or those needing maximum luggage space with all seven seats occupied.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seat Alhambra | 5/5 | 5.0/5 | 33.8% | 4.3/5 |
| Citroën Grand C4 Picasso | 4/5 | 4.9/5 | 45.0% | 4.3/5 |
| Volkswagen Sharan | 4/5 | N/A | 32.8% | 3.9/5 |
| Ford S-Max | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 27.6% | 4.3/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Alhambra if: You need genuine seven-seat practicality, require maximum versatility and boot space, or seek a comfortable and engaging MPV with sliding doors for easy access.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise the sharpest driving dynamics, are unwilling to accept potential reliability issues, or need maximum luggage space with all seven seats occupied.
Competitive Position: The Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) stands out as one of the finest practical MPVs available on the used market. Whilst the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso offers better value and the Ford S-Max delivers superior driving dynamics, the Alhambra strikes an excellent balance between practicality, comfort, and engagement. Its sliding doors, flexible seating, and spacious interior make it exceptionally family-friendly. With a full service history and careful maintenance, it represents outstanding value for families requiring genuine seven-seat versatility. The Volkswagen Sharan, its close relative, offers similar practicality but with a lower overall rating.
