Hot on the heels of the Renault 4 E-Tech and Renault 5 E-Tech comes this – the 2027 Renault Twingo E-Tech. Like the 4 and the 5 it’s small, electric-only and reinvents a classic Renault model. It’s due on sale in 2027, with prices expected to start at less than £20,000.
Here’s what you need to know about the 2027 Renault Twingo E-Tech.
2027 Renault Twingo E-Tech: Price, Specs and Release Date

2027 Renault Twingo E-Tech: styling and dimensions
Renault went back to the future with the 4 E-Tech and 5 E-Tech, giving us brand-new electric cars that took their names and design inspiration from previous models. It’s done it again with the Twingo E-Tech, with a design that’s even closer to that of the original than the 4 or 5. In this case, the new Twingo closely mirrors the look of the first-generation model that was sold in Europe (but not the UK) between 1993 and 2007.
Although the Twingo E-Tech has a similar shape to its predecessor it has chunkier proportions and it’s a five-door, rather than three-door, model. Like the 4 and 5 it cleverly combines retro themes with high-tech features such as distinctive LED headlights with pronounced semi-circular elements. Renault says these give the car a ‘cheerful expressive look, underlining its friendly personality’.
There are similarly-shaped lights at the rear, and these have small ‘fins’ at the top of them to reduce aerodynamic drag at speed. At 3.79 metres long, the new Twingo is longer than city cars such as the Hyundai i10 and Kia Picanto but shorter than the latest Renault 5 and superminis such as the Vauxhall Corsa.

2027 Renault Twingo E-Tech: interior design and practicality
The Twingo E-Tech’s interior has a less retro design flavour than its exterior, with a simple ‘cylindrical’ dashboard design featuring a 7-inch driver display, 10-inch central touchscreen and, below that, rotary air-con controls. Body-coloured inserts in the dashboard and doors liven things up, and Renault points out that the dual screens feature both ‘playful graphics’ and a welcome jingle developed in collaboration with Jean-Michel Jarre.
Despite its tiny dimensions, the Twingo E-Tech promises to be a practical four-seater. Like the first Twingo, the new model has a sliding rear seat that allows you to prioritise rear passenger space, boot space or settle for a compromise between the two. Each of the two rear seats slides individually, with a mechanism at both the front and back of the seat for optimum versatility.
Boot space with both seats fully forward is 360 litres – just 15 litres short of what you get in a Ford Focus. In addition to its generous boot, the Twingo has a 50-litre storage area underneath it and ‘over a dozen’ in-cabin storage spaces.

2027 Renault Twingo E-Tech: engines and driving dynamics
The Twingo E-Tech is based on the same basic platform as the Renault 4 E-Tech and Renault 5 E-Tech but it uses simpler rear suspension, a smaller battery and a less-powerful electric motor.
The 27.5 kWh battery is the first in a Renault EV to use LFP (lithium iron phosphate) rather than NMC (nickel-manganese-cobalt) technology. Maximum range is 163 miles, with Renault suggesting that the typical Twingo buyer will average just 22 miles per day. A 50 kW maximum charging rate means that a 10-80% charge will take about 30 minutes at a rapid charger. A 10-100% top-up using a 7 kW home charger is expected to take just over four hours.
Power comes from a 60kW (80bhp) electric motor that drives the front wheels. Renault quotes a 0-62 mph time of 12.1 seconds and a top speed of 81mph.

2027 Renault Twingo E-Tech: price and release date
Renault says that prices for the Twingo E-Tech will start at less than £20,000 when it goes on sale in 2027.
Even the most basic version will have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while higher-spec models will have Renault’s OpenR Link entertainment system with Google built-in. Renault says that up to 24 driver assistance systems (ADAS) will be available, along with a hands-free parking function. A range of bold colours will be offered, including new shades such as Absolute Red, Absolute Green and Mango Yellow.
