Audi Q3 (2025-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Impressive touchscreen system | Small boot in PHEV model |
| Generous standard equipment | A BMW X1 is more fun to drive |
| Impressive EV range from plug-in hybrid version | Doesn't significantly move the game on from its predecessor |
Quick Summary
The Audi Q3 (2025-present) is a posh compact family SUV that competes well against rivals like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Lexus NX. It offers a comprehensive engine range starting with a 148bhp turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol, progressing to 201bhp or 261bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines with quattro all-wheel drive, a 148bhp 2.0 TDI diesel, and a plug-in hybrid variant with up to 73 miles of electric range. The Q3 provides 488–575 litres of boot space with sliding rear seats, three-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree parking camera as standard equipment across the range.
The Q3 is fine to drive with competent handling, though it fails to wow in any particular area. The 2.0 TFSI quattro offers more engagement, whilst the plug-in hybrid delivers punchy responses and smooth power transitions. The diesel provides torquey, economical performance. All models benefit from optional adaptive dampers and progressive steering. Running costs are reasonable with efficient engines and good residual values, though only the entry-level 1.5 TFSI Sport avoids the expensive car VED supplement. Whilst the Q3 is perfectly recommendable, rivals from less premium brands offer similar virtues for less money.
Best for: Buyers seeking a premium compact SUV with generous standard equipment, a wide engine choice including a plug-in hybrid, and strong brand appeal.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising driving excitement (the BMW X1 is more engaging), maximum boot space, or seeking the best value for money in the compact SUV segment.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Audi Q3 | 3/5 | 4.3/5 | 35.8% | 4.4/5 |
| BMW X1 | 4/5 | 4.5/5 | 34.1% | 4.5/5 |
| Volkswagen Tiguan | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 34.5% | 4.4/5 |
| Mercedes-Benz GLA | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 36.3% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Q3 if: You value premium brand appeal, generous standard equipment, a wide engine choice including a plug-in hybrid, and competent all-round performance.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise driving excitement, maximum boot space, or seek the best value for money in the compact SUV segment.
Competitive Position: The Audi Q3 (2025-present) is a solid contender in the premium compact SUV market, offering impressive standard equipment, an impressive touchscreen system, and an impressive EV range from its plug-in hybrid variant. However, it fails to significantly advance from its predecessor and doesn't wow in any particular area. Whilst the BMW X1 offers more engaging driving dynamics and the Volkswagen Tiguan delivers superior user satisfaction at a lower price point, the Q3 remains a perfectly recommendable choice for those seeking premium brand credentials and comprehensive standard kit. Test driving rivals before committing is advisable.

What people say
I do believe the car is very good value for money, the cabin quality is second to none. Also as you'd expect from Audi the bill quality is excellent. What it does like is cruise control it should be standard required this quality. There's also the necessity for mapping certain features like getting the wing mirrors to work automatically when you switch off the engine.
Good looking car with great features. It’s a well built car that holds its value well. The Sportback is a classic design
Excellent car, lovely to drive. Would definitely recommend Audi.
Missing cruise control although mentioned on Car guru website. Other than that the Q3 is a quality car, well built and should achieve 150K miles without a problem.
2021 Audi Q3 Sportback 40TDi, great car to drive, practice and comfortable.
