Chery Tiggo 7 Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Incredible value for money	Boot is a little small
Impressive interior quality	Quite a bit of road noise
Generous warranty	Fiddly infotainment

Quick Summary

The Chery Tiggo 7 is a mid-size family SUV that represents exceptional value for money, undercutting mainstream rivals such as the Ford Kuga and Peugeot 3008 by thousands of pounds. Available with either a turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain offering up to 56 miles of electric-only range, the Tiggo 7 combines affordability with impressive standard equipment and genuinely high-quality interior materials. Both trim levels—Aspire and Summit—come lavishly equipped with features including dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, 360-degree surround view cameras, and dual 12.3-inch touchscreens.

Whilst the Tiggo 7 doesn't match European or Japanese rivals for engineering polish or dynamic handling, it's competent and comfortable enough for family use. The petrol version delivers adequate performance with a 0-62mph time of 9.4 seconds, whilst the plug-in hybrid accelerates to 62mph in 8.5 seconds and feels noticeably more eager. Running costs are low, with the PHEV potentially achieving over 250mpg in real-world driving when regularly charged. The seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty adds further peace of mind, making this an intelligent choice for budget-conscious buyers seeking practicality without compromise.

Best for: Budget-conscious families seeking a spacious, well-equipped SUV with low running costs and genuine interior quality, and those willing to prioritise value over premium badge appeal.

Not ideal for: Buyers demanding the finest handling dynamics, those requiring maximum boot space, or those sensitive to road noise and infotainment complexity.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the Tiggo 7 if: You're seeking exceptional value for money, want a well-equipped family SUV with impressive interior quality, or prioritise low running costs and warranty peace of mind over premium brand prestige.

Consider alternatives if: You demand the finest handling dynamics, require maximum boot space, or prefer established European or Japanese brands with proven track records.

Competitive Position: The Chery Tiggo 7 is a compelling proposition in the mid-size SUV market, offering outstanding value that undercuts mainstream rivals by several thousand pounds whilst matching or exceeding their standard equipment. Whilst it lacks the dynamic polish of the Ford Kuga or the premium feel of the Peugeot 3008, it outperforms the budget-focused MG HS on interior quality and warranty provision. For buyers prioritising affordability without sacrificing practicality or comfort, the Tiggo 7 represents an intelligent and increasingly credible alternative to established competitors.
