Immaculate and perfect. Better than my previous CRV. However the knobs and whistles take a while to get used to.

Honda CR-V (2026) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Efficient hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains | Rivals are cheaper to buy |
| Very roomy interior | Hybrid is noisy when accelerating hard |
| Big and practical boot | Infotainment now lags behind best in class |
Quick Summary
The Honda CR-V (2026) is a premium Japanese family SUV that continues the model's tradition of practical and dependable transport. This sixth-generation CR-V is longer, wider, and more spacious than its predecessor, with a commanding driving position and exceptional interior room. Available exclusively as hybrid (e:HEV) and plug-in hybrid (e:PHEV) models, it combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with electric motors for smooth, efficient power delivery. The plug-in hybrid offers up to 50 miles of electric-only range, whilst the standard hybrid delivers approximately 42.2mpg on mixed driving. Both variants feature a spacious boot of 579–617 litres, expandable to 1,643–1,710 litres with rear seats folded.
The CR-V excels in practicality with rear seats that recline and slide fore and aft by up to 19cm, generous legroom for adults, and a well-appointed interior with heated leather seats, panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control as standard. The infotainment system includes a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, though it lags slightly behind the best in class. Ride and handling are comfort-oriented rather than sporty, with soft suspension and 18-inch alloys absorbing road imperfections effectively. The plug-in hybrid's extra weight can compromise ride quality on undulating roads. At around £47,000–£50,000, the CR-V is pricier than rivals, though it comes comprehensively equipped and offers a sense of luxury befitting its premium positioning.
Best for: Families seeking a spacious, practical, and dependable SUV with advanced hybrid technology, those prioritising comfort over sportiness, and company car drivers (particularly the plug-in hybrid for BIK tax benefits).
Not ideal for: Budget-conscious buyers, those wanting seven-seat capacity, drivers prioritising sporty handling, or those seeking the latest infotainment technology.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Honda CR-V | 4/5 | 4.3/5 | 32.3% | 4.3/5 |
| BMW X3 | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 33.4% | 4.4/5 |
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 36.3% | 4.4/5 |
| Toyota RAV4 | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 30.9% | 4.3/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the CR-V if: You're seeking a spacious, practical, and dependable family SUV with advanced hybrid technology, prioritise comfort over sportiness, or are a company car driver looking for BIK tax efficiency.
Consider alternatives if: You're on a tight budget, need seven-seat capacity, want sporty handling, or require the latest infotainment technology.
Competitive Position: The Honda CR-V (2026) is a solid contender in the premium family SUV segment, offering exceptional practicality, comprehensive equipment, and efficient hybrid powertrains. Whilst it commands a higher price than rivals such as the Toyota RAV4 and Skoda Kodiaq, the CR-V delivers a sense of luxury and dependability that justifies the premium. It may not match the premium badge appeal of the BMW X3 or the seven-seat versatility of the Kodiaq, but for families prioritising comfort, space, and advanced hybrid technology, the CR-V remains an excellent choice. Its smooth hybrid systems, roomy interior, and comprehensive standard equipment make it a very easy SUV to live with, even if it lacks the excitement of sportier alternatives.
