Honda Jazz (2020-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Space and clever seating make the Jazz very practical | Rivals from Renault and Toyota have longer warranties |
| Slick infotainment system | Not as much fun to drive as a Ford Fiesta |
| Expect very good reliability | Noisy petrol engine and CVT combo |
Quick Summary
The Honda Jazz Mk4 (2020-present) excels in practicality, embodying the spirit of an MPV within a compact supermini package. Its standout feature is the versatile 'magic seats', which flip up to accommodate taller items, complementing the generous 304-litre boot capacity and low loading lip. While not as engaging to drive as some rivals, it's easy to manoeuvre, offers excellent visibility, and provides a quiet, composed ride around town, making it a solid and sensible choice for those prioritising interior space and versatility.
Equipped with a hybrid powertrain, the Jazz delivers good fuel economy, averaging 55-60mpg in daily use, though it might be slightly less efficient than some direct hybrid competitors. It comes well-equipped across its trim levels, often surpassing rivals in standard features despite being less spacious. While the petrol engine can be noisy under hard acceleration due to the CVT, the car remains comfortable and stable on motorways. Servicing costs are average, with options for fixed-price plans, contributing to its overall affordability and reliability.
Best for: Drivers prioritising maximum practicality and interior space in a compact car, those seeking a reliable and economical hybrid for city and motorway driving, and buyers who value excellent visibility and ease of parking.
Not ideal for: Buyers seeking an exciting or sporty driving experience, those sensitive to engine noise under acceleration, or individuals looking for the absolute lowest running costs compared to some hybrid rivals with longer warranties.

The Verdict
You should buy the Jazz if: You prioritise maximum practicality and interior space in a compact car, seek a reliable and economical hybrid for city and motorway driving, or value excellent visibility and ease of parking.
Consider alternatives if: You seek an exciting or sporty driving experience, are sensitive to engine noise under acceleration, or are looking for the absolute lowest running costs compared to some hybrid rivals with longer warranties.
Competitive Position: The Honda Jazz (2020-present) stands out in the supermini segment for its unparalleled practicality, clever 'magic seats', and spacious interior, making it ideal for families or those needing versatile cargo solutions. While its hybrid powertrain delivers good economy and ease of driving, it doesn't offer the dynamic excitement of a Ford Fiesta. Its strong equipment levels and reputation for reliability make it a sensible and affordable choice, though some rivals may offer slightly better fuel efficiency or longer warranties.
