Reviewed a 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 on 7 Nov 2025
Best electric car, with great features and good value for money (if bought used). Smooth ride, amazing drive experience and there is nothing that I felt or experienced that is not up to the mark. Compare to similar other brands and models - Ioniq 6 is by far the most feature-rich and superb electric car. The quality of materials used both inside-out are just top-notch and can easily compare/even beat to some of the German rivals of similar price range.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 (2023-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Individual looks | Ride is decidedly firm |
| Pleasant to drive | Some disappointing pieces of interior trim |
| Stuffed with equipment and technology | Wing mirror cameras are a bit pointless |
Quick Summary
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a battery electric vehicle that rivals the Tesla Model 3 and BMW i4. Inspired by 1930s aeroplanes, it features a sleek, bullet-shaped profile with impressive aerodynamics of 0.21cD. The rear-wheel drive model delivers 225bhp with an official WLTP range of up to 338 miles, whilst the dual-motor all-wheel drive variant offers 321bhp and 322 miles of range. Based on the same E-GMP platform as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 is one of the roomiest cars in its class, with a 2.95m wheelbase and 4.85m overall length providing excellent passenger space and some of the best technology available.
The Ioniq 6 is exceptionally efficient, achieving up to 3.8m/kWh in real-world driving, translating to approximately 281 miles of range in mild conditions. Its 800V charging system enables rapid charging at up to 220kW, delivering a 10-80% charge in around 18 minutes at compatible chargers. Vehicle-to-load charging is standard across the range, allowing you to charge external devices using the car's battery. Whilst the ride comfort is firm and some interior trim feels cheap in entry-level Premium trim, the Ioniq 6 remains a desirable and excellent electric executive offering outstanding value for money.
Best for: Buyers seeking a technologically advanced, efficient electric executive with distinctive styling, excellent range, and strong value for money.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising a softer ride comfort, premium interior finishes throughout, or access to Tesla Supercharger networks.

The Verdict
You should buy the Ioniq 6 if: You're seeking a technologically advanced, efficient electric executive with distinctive styling, excellent range, and strong value for money.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise a softer ride comfort, premium interior finishes throughout, or access to Tesla Supercharger networks.
Competitive Position: The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a compelling choice in the electric executive segment, offering outstanding efficiency, impressive range, and excellent value compared to rivals. Whilst the BMW i4 edges ahead for driving dynamics and the Tesla Model 3 benefits from its Supercharger network, the Ioniq 6's combination of distinctive design, advanced technology, and competitive pricing makes it a genuinely desirable proposition. Its superior user ratings and higher percentage of good deals demonstrate strong market appeal, positioning it as an excellent alternative to more established competitors.
