Economical and well equipped	No three-door version
Generous warranty	Not as much fun to drive as a Seat Ibiza

Quick Summary

The Hyundai i10 (2020-present) is a supermini that delivers impressive practicality, economy, and equipment in a compact package. This generation, launched in 2020, offers a well-designed interior with smart storage solutions, good visibility, and comfortable seating for five. The boot provides 252 litres of space, expanding to 1,050 litres with the 60/40 split-fold rear seats lowered. Available exclusively as a five-door, it combines ease of parking and manoeuvrability with surprising interior space, making it an excellent choice for urban driving and family use.

The i10 strikes an impressive balance between comfort and handling, dismissing potholes whilst remaining composed through corners. Engine options include a 1.0-litre MPi, 1.2-litre MPi, and a 99bhp turbocharged 1.0-litre T-GDi, with manual or automatic gearboxes available. Fuel economy ranges from 52.3mpg to 56.5mpg depending on specification. Backed by Hyundai's excellent five-year unlimited mileage warranty and breakdown cover, the i10 offers exceptional peace of mind. Insurance groups range from 3 to 10, with annual servicing costs around £200-£300.

Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking a practical, economical city car; families needing a compact runabout; those valuing warranty protection and reliability; and drivers prioritising ease of parking and manoeuvrability.

Not ideal for: Buyers wanting a three-door option; those seeking entry-level Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity; or drivers prioritising sporty handling comparable to a Seat Ibiza.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the i10 if: You're seeking a practical, economical city car; need a compact runabout for families; value warranty protection and reliability; or prioritise ease of parking and manoeuvrability.

Consider alternatives if: You want a three-door option, require entry-level Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity, or prioritise sporty handling comparable to a Seat Ibiza.

Competitive Position: The Hyundai i10 (2020-present) is a benchmark-setting supermini that excels in practicality, economy, and equipment. With a five-star expert rating and strong user satisfaction, it outperforms rivals like the Toyota Aygo X and Kia Picanto in overall CarGurus rating. Its generous warranty, low running costs, and well-thought-out interior design make it an exceptional choice for budget-conscious buyers. Whilst the Aygo X offers hybrid efficiency and the Picanto provides similar value, the i10's superior expert rating and comprehensive warranty make it the standout option in the city car segment.
