Hyundai i10 (2020-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very practical for such a small car | Entry-level cars don't have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto |
| Economical and well equipped | No three-door version |
| Generous warranty | Not as much fun to drive as a Seat Ibiza |
Quick Summary
The Hyundai i10 (2020-present) is a smart, compact supermini that delivers exceptional practicality for its size. With a well-designed interior featuring an 8.0-inch touchscreen, good visibility, and supportive seats, it offers surprising comfort for two six-footers. The 252-litre boot expands to 1,050 litres with the 60/40 split-fold rear seats, making it genuinely practical for everyday family life. Available exclusively as a five-door, it combines excellent build quality with a comprehensive array of storage solutions and modern conveniences like optional wireless phone charging.
On the road, the i10 strikes an impressive balance between comfort and composure, dismissing potholes whilst remaining well-behaved through corners. Choose the 1.2-litre MPi engine over the entry-level 1.0-litre for better motorway performance, or opt for the turbocharged 1.0-litre T-GDi in the N Line for surprising punch. Fuel economy is excellent, with the 1.2-litre returning 55.4mpg, whilst insurance groups remain affordable across the range. Backed by Hyundai's excellent five-year unlimited mileage warranty, the i10 represents outstanding value and peace of mind.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking a practical, economical, and well-equipped city car, families needing surprising interior space, and those valuing reliability and warranty protection.
Not ideal for: Drivers prioritising three-door options, those wanting smartphone integration on entry-level models, or buyers seeking the sportiest handling in the supermini class.

The Verdict
You should buy the i10 if: You're seeking a practical, economical, and well-equipped city car, need surprising interior space for a supermini, or value reliability and warranty protection.
Consider alternatives if: You require a three-door option, want smartphone integration on entry-level models, or prioritise the sportiest handling in the supermini class.
Competitive Position: The Hyundai i10 (2020-present) is one of the best small cars around, setting a benchmark for others to follow. It excels in practicality, comfort, and equipment whilst remaining economical and well-built. Whilst the Toyota Aygo X offers hybrid efficiency and the Kia Picanto provides a closely related alternative, the i10's superior expert rating, generous warranty, and balanced driving dynamics make it the standout choice. The BYD Dolphin Surf offers better value deals, but the i10's proven reliability and comprehensive warranty provide greater peace of mind for used buyers.

What people say
This is an amazing little car, so smooth to run and economical as well. Really nippy getting from a to b
I bought the 1.2 ltr SE model which is plenty nippy enough for me. I dont need Alloys, Heated seats, or Sat Nav. I would have liked rear parking sensors, but as it is a small car this is not a problem. It has a good all round view and is not difficult to park. I It is more roomy than other cars in this class like the Skoda Citigo or the VW UP. It is also less expensive, but holds its value pretty well. I choose an automatic which has a very smooth gear change, unlike the Skoda Citigo, which was extremely jerky. The only car I thought was better was the Ford Fiesta, but in my opinion was very overpriced.
I am very happy with the car. It drives well for a 1.2 and is comfortable. We have a 4 door but space in back of the car and in the boot is very small. But this car suits our needs very well.
Good condition: Body work, Interior, mechanically. Meets our requirements for a second vehicle at a price tag which, in or onion was great value for the condition and mileage. Our previous experience with the Hyundai Brand has been excellent so did no compare other brands in our decision.
Excellent car. Very nippy. Lots of features on the car which is typical of Hyundai way ahead of time
