The Hyundai i40 was introduced back in 2012, and was the Korean company’s offering in the large family car market. It was offered in both saloon and estate body styles, putting it in direct competition with rivals such as the Ford Mondeo, Volkswagen Passat, Vauxhall Insignia, Mazda6, Peugeot 508 and Skoda Superb, among others. It was popular for a time thanks to its solid build quality, strong practicality, generous equipment, affordable pricing and long warranty. However, its popularity later began to wane - along with that of all such cars - as SUVs became more and more popular with family car buyers. It was withdrawn from sale in 2020 but still offers a lot of car for the money as a used buy.
