Jaguar F-Pace (2016-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Great to drive | High running costs with V8 models |
| Good standard equipment | Poor interior quality on pre-facelift cars |
| Roomy and practical | Firm ride, especially on larger wheels |
Quick Summary
The Jaguar F-Pace, launched in 2016, marked Jaguar's first foray into the SUV market, positioned as a "performance crossover." It immediately stood out with smart styling, sharp handling, and advanced technology, competing with established rivals like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. Renowned for its sports car heritage, Jaguar ensured the F-Pace delivered agile handling without compromising on comfort or practicality, making it a viable and appealing family SUV.
Over its lifespan, the F-Pace has seen significant improvements, particularly with a 2021 facelift that upgraded its interior quality and infotainment system to rival the best in class. It offers a diverse engine range, from efficient diesels to a powerful SVR V8 and a P400e plug-in hybrid, all paired with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. While its sporty handling can lead to a firm ride, and some engines are thirsty, the F-Pace remains a genuinely fun and engaging SUV, offering generous practicality with a large boot (though reduced in PHEV models) and ample passenger space.
Best for: Drivers who want a sporty, engaging SUV, those looking for practicality and good equipment, and buyers of post-facelift models for improved interior quality.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising ultimate ride comfort, those sensitive to high running costs (especially with V8 models), or those who need maximum boot space in a plug-in hybrid.

The Verdict
You should buy the F-Pace if: You're seeking an enjoyable and engaging SUV with sharp handling, good standard equipment, and a roomy, practical interior. It's especially appealing if you can afford a post-facelift model for its enhanced interior quality.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise ultimate ride comfort, are sensitive to high running costs (particularly with V8 engines), or require maximum boot space without the compromise of a plug-in hybrid.
Competitive Position: The Jaguar F-Pace is a strong contender in the midsize prestige SUV segment, offering a genuinely fun and engaging driving experience that rivals most competitors, although it may not quite match a Porsche Macan for outright thrills. It provides excellent practicality and comes well-equipped, with post-2021 facelift models significantly improving the interior. While its firm ride and some thirsty engines are points to consider, the F-Pace successfully combines Jaguar's sporty essence with SUV versatility, making it a compelling choice for those buying with both heart and head.

4.8 Overall rating
(20 reviews)I have never driven another car that is as responsive as the jaguar and the quality of finish is superb
Comparing to E-Pace same year 2020 similar model the trim level isnt as nice. It feels less luxurious. However its still pure class. And the glass roof makes traveling in the back so nice. Mpg in the 2lt diesel version averages mid 40s mpg. Its a solid capable large car. The E-Pace was a really nice car to drive and look at however boot space was lacking and I was forever getting battery issues.
Fantastic car great mpg its not got as much on it as xf but still a great care, its great value overall
Outstanding vehicle with great features and fantastic handling all round
Base model has no reversing camera which I do miss. Apart from that a very comfortable ride, firm responsive steering. Cant wait to do some long drives.
