Jeep understands that today’s buyers of tough, off-road machines might also want to trundle around town or commit to longer motorway journeys in their jacked-up, slab-sided 4x4s. Consequently, its latest Wrangler – a nameplate that has been around since 1987 – is arguably the most versatile yet. Despite the improved interior technology, more refined engines and better on-road driving characteristics, this is still very much the hardcore and capable machine that can trace its lineage back to the Willys Jeep of the 1940s.
