Luxuriously equipped	Finance deals could be cheaper
Usefully wide range of models to suit different budgets and needs	Steering lacks feel

Quick Summary

The Kia EV6 is a pure-electric crossover that blends executive luxury with practical family car versatility. With ultra-fast 800V charging capable of delivering an 80% charge in just 18 minutes at 350kW chargers, it offers impressive range of up to 361 miles on post-facelift models. The platform's innovative design maximises interior space with a flat floor, generous headroom and legroom, and a 490-litre boot. Available in multiple variants from the 226bhp rear-wheel-drive model to the thrilling 577bhp GT with 3.5-second 0-62mph acceleration, the EV6 caters to diverse needs and budgets.

The EV6 excels in refinement, comfort, and technology, featuring dual curved 12.3-inch screens, comprehensive safety features, and vehicle-to-load charging capability. Running costs are significantly lower than petrol or diesel equivalents, with a full charge costing under £30 on domestic electricity. Whilst the Skoda Enyaq offers more space and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 provides a sportier alternative, the EV6 strikes an excellent balance between performance, practicality, and luxury. The 2024 facelift brought a larger 84kWh battery and refined styling, making it one of the most compelling electric cars available.

Best for: Buyers seeking a luxurious, practical electric car with impressive performance options, families wanting versatile interior space, and those prioritising fast charging capability.

Not ideal for: Customers requiring maximum boot space, those seeking the cheapest electric family car, or drivers who value steering feedback and engagement above all else.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the EV6 if: You want a luxurious, practical electric car with impressive performance options, need versatile interior space, or prioritise fast charging capability.

Consider alternatives if: You require maximum boot space, seek the cheapest electric family car, or value steering feedback and engagement above all else.

Competitive Position: The Kia EV6 is a standout in the premium electric car market, offering an excellent balance of luxury, performance, and practicality. Whilst the Hyundai Ioniq 5 edges ahead with a marginally higher overall rating and the Tesla Model 3 delivers pure performance credentials, the EV6 distinguishes itself through its comprehensive equipment, diverse model range, and exceptional charging speeds. It's more spacious than the BMW i4 and more affordable than premium alternatives, making it an outstanding choice for buyers seeking a well-rounded electric executive car that doesn't compromise on family practicality.
