Kia EV6 Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Impressive range and charging speeds	A Skoda Enyaq is roomier and cheaper
Luxuriously equipped	Finance deals could be cheaper
Usefully wide range of models to suit different budgets and needs	Steering lacks feel

Quick Summary

The Kia EV6 is a pure-electric crossover that blends executive luxury with practical family car versatility. With ultra-fast 800V charging capable of delivering an 80% charge in just 18 minutes at 350kW chargers, it offers impressive range of up to 361 miles in post-facelift models. The platform's innovative design maximises interior space with a flat floor, generous headroom and legroom, and a 490-litre boot. Every model comes luxuriously equipped with dual 12.3-inch curved screens, heated seats and steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, and vegan leather upholstery as standard.

The EV6 is very good to drive, with the rear-wheel-drive version delivering 226bhp and 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds, whilst the four-wheel-drive models offer 321bhp and 5.2 seconds. The flagship GT model provides supercar-rivalling performance with 577bhp and 3.5 seconds to 62mph. Running costs are significantly lower than petrol or diesel equivalents, with a full charge costing under £30 on domestic electricity tariffs. The only drawbacks are that rivals like the Skoda Enyaq offer more space at a lower price, finance deals could be more competitive, and the steering lacks the engagement expected from a sports executive car.

Best for: Buyers seeking a luxurious, high-tech electric car with impressive performance and range, families wanting a practical and versatile EV, and those prioritising rapid charging capability.

Not ideal for: Buyers on a tight budget, those requiring maximum interior space, or drivers who value steering feedback and engagement above all else.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the EV6 if: You're seeking a luxurious, high-tech electric car with impressive performance and range, want a practical and versatile family EV, or prioritise rapid charging capability.

Consider alternatives if: You require maximum interior space, are on a tight budget, or value steering feedback and engagement above all else.

Competitive Position: The Kia EV6 is a standout in the premium electric car market, offering an excellent balance of luxury, performance, and practicality. Whilst the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 are strong competitors with comparable ratings, the EV6 distinguishes itself through its luxurious standard equipment, impressive charging speeds, and wide range of models from sensible RWD versions to the thrilling GT. The BMW i4 offers premium driving dynamics but at a higher price point. For buyers wanting a sophisticated, well-equipped electric crossover that doesn't compromise on performance or family practicality, the EV6 represents outstanding value in the premium EV segment.
