It's good am still considering it. Only thing putting me off is the high mileage and that it will need a hybrid battery replacement soon. Which aren't cheap at all.

Lexus CT 200h (2011-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| High-quality interior | Dull to drive compared with a BMW 1 Series |
| Very reliable | Awful infotainment system |
| Affordable running costs | Overly firm ride |
Quick Summary
The Lexus CT 200h (2011-2020) was the first premium hatchback to offer a hybrid powertrain, providing an elegant and stylish alternative to rivals like the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series. With a high-quality interior featuring premium materials and leather upholstery (except entry-level models), it delivers a comfortable and quiet driving experience around town. The 375-litre boot is competitive with German rivals, offering adequate space for weekend bags or weekly shopping, whilst head and leg room in the rear seats accommodates adults reasonably well.
As a hybrid-engined car, the CT delivers impressive fuel economy and low CO2 emissions, with official figures ranging from 53.2mpg to 55.3mpg under WLTP testing. Running costs are affordable, with insurance starting from group 17 and servicing from £270. However, the CT struggles dynamically compared to its rivals, lacking agility and grip in corners, with an overly firm ride on poor road surfaces. Performance is sluggish (0-62mph in 10.3 seconds), and the mouse-like infotainment controller is clunky and dated. Despite its long production run, the CT remains highly reliable and offers excellent value for those prioritising comfort and low running costs over driving engagement.
Best for: Buyers seeking a stylish, reliable premium hatchback with low running costs, comfortable town driving, and high-quality interior appointments.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising engaging driving dynamics, modern infotainment systems, or the sportiness of a BMW 1 Series or Audi A3.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lexus CT 200h | 3/5 | 4.4/5 | 31.7% | 4.1/5 |
| BMW 1 Series | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 39.3% | 4.4/5 |
| Audi A3 | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 33.4% | 4.4/5 |
| Mercedes-Benz A-Class | 3/5 | 4.5/5 | 34.9% | 4.2/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the CT 200h if: You prioritise a stylish, reliable premium hatchback with low running costs, comfortable town driving, and high-quality interior appointments.
Consider alternatives if: You value engaging driving dynamics, modern infotainment systems, or the sportiness of a BMW 1 Series or Audi A3.
Competitive Position: The Lexus CT 200h is a stylish and reliable premium hatchback offering excellent value and low running costs. However, it falls short against its rivals in driving dynamics and technology. The BMW 1 Series is more engaging to drive, the Audi A3 offers the best interior and highest user satisfaction, and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class features cutting-edge in-car technology. The CT's long production run means later examples feel dated compared to newer competitors. For comfort-focused buyers seeking affordability and reliability over driving excitement, the CT remains a sensible choice.
