Customers say
The MINI Mini Countryman is highly regarded for its fun driving experience, comfort, and stylish design. Many owners appreciate its nippy performance and the added height that makes it feel more like an SUV. However, some have expressed concerns about visibility in tight spots and the overall price, especially when factoring in additional features that may not be standard. Overall, it's a compact SUV that balances practicality and enjoyment.

This 2.0 litre model performs extremely well as one would expect for a Cooper S variant, despite the size of the car. It has good acceleration, amazing stopping power and feels like a much bigger car. Overall, this car exceeded my expectation.

The inside of the 5 door felt incredibly cramped, very little room for a bale of hay. I find the 3 door is much more versatile.

MINI Countryman (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of interior space | Interior doesn't impress as much for quality |
| Well equipped | Infotainment has some ergonomic issues |
| Very stylish interior | Many rivals ride more comfortably |
Quick Summary
The MINI Countryman (2024-present) is the third-generation version of MINI's family SUV, offering considerably more space and practicality than its predecessors. The latest model is 13cm longer and 6cm taller, providing generous interior space with excellent legroom and headroom for all occupants. A decent-sized boot with additional underfloor storage, combined with flexible 60/40 or 40/20/40 rear seat configurations, makes this an excellent family car. The range includes three petrol variants (C, S, and high-performance JCW) plus two all-electric options (E and SE), all featuring MINI's characteristic style and cheeky character.
The standout feature is the industry-first circular OLED infotainment screen, which looks brilliant but can be cluttered and occasionally confusing to navigate. Interior quality is mixed, with stylish highlights offset by hard, scratchy plastics in less visible areas. Driving dynamics are engaging rather than exceptional, with quick steering and good grip, though the firm ride and body roll in tight corners limit agility. The JCW's adaptive suspension significantly improves comfort without sacrificing sportiness. Fuel economy ranges from 46.3mpg (C) to 36.2mpg (JCW), whilst electric variants offer up to 287 miles of range with rapid DC charging capability.
Best for: Families seeking a practical, spacious SUV with premium brand appeal and distinctive styling, those wanting MINI character in a larger package, and buyers interested in electric options. Not ideal for: Those prioritising interior material quality, drivers wanting an intuitive infotainment system, or those seeking the most comfortable ride in the compact SUV class.

| MINI Countryman | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 37.0% | 4.4/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the Countryman if: You're seeking a practical, spacious SUV with premium brand appeal and distinctive styling, want MINI character in a larger package, or are interested in electric options. Consider alternatives if: You prioritise interior material quality, want an intuitive infotainment system, or seek the most comfortable ride in the compact SUV class. Competitive Position: The MINI Countryman (2024-present) is a strong contender in the compact premium SUV market, offering excellent space, generous standard equipment, and distinctive styling. Whilst rivals like the BMW X1 provide a slightly more refined experience and the Audi Q2 offers better value for money, the Countryman's unique character, stylish interior design, and comprehensive range of powertrains—including electric options—make it an appealing choice for families wanting something different. The firm ride and infotainment quirks are minor compromises for those prioritising practicality and brand personality. Read our full MINI Countryman Review
