The car is very well built, comfortable and very stylish inside and out!The amount of tech it comes with is mind blowing. I consider it great value for money. Would I recommend it, yes I would. Would I buy another, yes I would.

Reviewed a 2024 Mazda 2.0 e-SKYACTIV X Exclusive-Line on 29 Feb 2024
The car is superb. Mazda quality is unbelievable for the money. The exclusive line has everything you need. So much you might want to turn one or two of the assistance modes off. I love the centre consul dials. So easy to use on the move. They soon become effortless and the screen is so clear. Loads of room for me and my wife. Very very comfortable once you relax in to it. The X engine in two wheel drive form is an absolute joy. Quick and responsive at the right revs. That leaves the clutch and gear box one word. Superb. The words I would use in summary are Top Quality and great to drive. The Bose us awesome. A lot of cars these days have huge unnecessary screens that do nothing particularly well and are a pain to use. They dont even look good. Go look as a Mazda they have it right. This car is for couples and small families To compare it to a full SUV would be unfair. It is part SUV so a crossover. Dont let that put you off Go drive it. Its a dream.

Mazda CX-30 (2019-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Head-turning looks, inside and out | Skyactiv-X engine is sophisticated, but sluggish in the mid-range |
| Good to drive | Rear legroom is in short supply |
| Choice of front- and four-wheel drive | Boot is small and lacks clever features |
Quick Summary
The Mazda CX-30 (2019-present) is a stylish compact SUV based on the Mazda3 platform, offering head-turning design both inside and out. The minimalist cabin is exceptionally well made with BMW-quality materials, whilst all models feature a head-up display and intuitive rotary dial infotainment system. With responsive steering, smooth ride quality, and lively handling, the CX-30 is a genuine pleasure to drive. The optional all-wheel drive system and choice of manual or automatic transmissions provide flexibility, though the manual gearbox is particularly excellent.
Two 2.0-litre petrol engines are available: the older Skyactiv-G (120bhp) and the more advanced Skyactiv-X (178bhp) compression ignition unit, which delivers diesel-like economy of 47.9mpg without diesel emissions. Both feature mild hybrid technology. However, the Skyactiv-X is disappointingly sluggish in the mid-range, and its economy gains don't justify the extra cost. The 430-litre boot is adequate but lacks practical features, and rear legroom is limited due to the shorter wheelbase. Despite these drawbacks, if you're captivated by the CX-30's striking styling, its other qualities may prove compelling.
Best for: Style-conscious buyers seeking an eye-catching, well-made compact SUV with engaging driving dynamics and modern technology, plus those wanting all-wheel drive capability.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising rear passenger space, maximum boot capacity, or mid-range engine performance, or those seeking the best value in the compact SUV segment.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mazda CX-30 | 3/5 | 4.7/5 | 41.7% | 4.2/5 |
| Skoda Karoq | 5/5 | 5.0/5 | 35.9% | 4.6/5 |
| Seat Ateca | 4/5 | 3.8/5 | 40.2% | 4.2/5 |
| Volvo XC40 | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 38.1% | 4.5/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the CX-30 if: You're style-conscious and seeking an eye-catching, well-made compact SUV with engaging driving dynamics, modern technology, and all-wheel drive capability.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise rear passenger space, maximum boot capacity, mid-range engine performance, or the best value in the compact SUV segment.
Competitive Position: The Mazda CX-30 stands out for its striking design and engaging driving experience, earning strong user ratings of 4.7 out of 5. However, it faces stiff competition from the Skoda Karoq, which offers superior practicality with a larger 521-litre boot and exceptional value, scoring a perfect 5 out of 5 from experts. The Volvo XC40 provides premium appeal with a 4.5 overall rating, whilst the Seat Ateca offers a practical alternative. For buyers willing to compromise on space for style and driving enjoyment, the CX-30 is an excellent choice; however, those prioritising practicality and value should consider the Karoq.
