Mitsubishi L200 (2020-2021) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Range-topping models have lots of standard kit | Some rivals offer more power and performance |
| The diesel engine is fuel-efficient | A SsangYong Musso is better value |
| Easier to drive around town than bigger pickups | The Ford Ranger has a bigger load bed |
Quick Summary
The Mitsubishi L200 Series 6 (2020-2021) is a striking pickup truck that refined the successful Series 5 template, offering a more pleasant driving experience and improved efficiency. Despite Mitsubishi's departure from the UK new car market, comprehensive servicing and warranty support remain, making it a savvy used purchase. Its distinctive, rugged styling stands out, and most models are practical double-cabs with seating for five, though club-cabs are also available.
Practicality is a strong suit, with a payload capacity of up to 1080kg and a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes (for three-axle trailers). While its load bed dimensions and maximum payload are competitive rather than class-leading, its relatively narrower body and small turning circle make it more manageable in urban environments than some larger rivals. All Series 6 models are powered by a fuel-efficient 148bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Higher trim levels, such as Trojan, Warrior, and Barbarian, come generously equipped with features like advanced infotainment, climate control, and driver assistance systems.
Best for: Buyers seeking a distinctive, practical, and well-equipped pickup for work or family, those looking for good value in the used market, and drivers who appreciate easier manoeuvrability in urban areas compared to larger rivals.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising class-leading payload/load bed dimensions, maximum power/performance from their engine, or who require the absolute cheapest purchase price (compared to a SsangYong Musso).
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mitsubishi L200 | 3/5 | 4.6/5 | 34.1% | 4.2/5 |
| Nissan Navara | 4/5 | 4.0/5 | 33.8% | 4.2/5 |
| Ford Ranger | 4/5 | 4.7/5 | 34.7% | 4.4/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the L200 if: You're looking for a distinctive, practical, and well-equipped pickup for work or family, value a good deal in the used market, or need easier urban manoeuvrability.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise class-leading payload/load bed dimensions, maximum engine power/performance, or are seeking the absolute lowest purchase price available.
Competitive Position: The Mitsubishi L200 Series 6 (2020-2021) is a strong contender in the pickup market, offering a compelling blend of distinctive styling, practicality, and competitive running costs. While it may not lead its class in payload capacity or engine power compared to some rivals, its more manageable size for urban driving, generous standard equipment on higher trims, and good value as a used buy make it a sensible choice. Its continued servicing and warranty support despite Mitsubishi's UK market exit further enhance its appeal.

Its great all-round 4x4 pickup. Lots of features, good engine which gives good performance. Reliable. Stylish looks. Good value for money and holds its value relatively well. One of the best in its sector.
Fantastic truck but the interior plastics are very basic
I’ve had one before and they’re great vehicles. Lots of fun to drive.
