In the UK, the Mitsubishi Shogun Sport’s history is a story of two halves. This large SUV, based on the L200 pickup truck, was originally introduced in 1998 as the Mitsubishi Challenger, and the name then changed in 2000. It sat between the larger Shogun and the smaller Shogun Pinin in Mitsubishi’s 4x4 lineup, and stayed on sale until 2006. Mitsubishi didn’t import the second-generation Shogun Sport to the UK, so the name didn’t reappear until 2018 when a full-bodied version of the contemporary L200 was introduced once again. It was great off road but rather agricultural on it. It stayed on sale until Mitsubishi withdrew from the UK in 2021.
