Peugeot 107 (2005-2014) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Simple to drive and easy to park | Lots of wind and road noise at speed |
| Very cheap to buy and run | Jerky 2-Tronic automatic |
| Perky looks | Entry-level cars are very basic |
Quick Summary
The Peugeot 107 (2005-2014) is an entry-level city car that prioritises low running costs and reliability over frills. Sharing its robust engine and transmission with the Toyota Aygo, the 107 is a dependable small car that rarely lets you down. Its compact dimensions make it ideal for urban driving, with light steering and nippy handling that make parking and manoeuvring effortless. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine produces just 68bhp, but the car's lightweight construction means it feels surprisingly responsive around town.
Running costs are exceptionally low, with official fuel economy of 61.4mpg (later cars achieving 65mpg) and real-world returns easily exceeding 50mpg. Vehicle excise duty is minimal at no more than £30 annually, whilst insurance groupings range from 3 to 5 out of 50, making it particularly appealing to younger drivers. However, practicality is limited, with just 139-litres of boot space, no glove box, and cramped rear seating. Wind and road noise at motorway speeds can be intrusive, and the 2-Tronic automatic transmission is jerky. Despite these compromises, the 107 offers exceptional value for budget-conscious buyers seeking straightforward, economical urban transport.
Best for: Budget-conscious drivers, first-time car buyers, those seeking economical city car transport, and drivers prioritising low running costs and insurance premiums.
Not ideal for: Families needing spacious seating or boot space, motorway commuters sensitive to noise, or buyers seeking premium features and refinement.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

| Peugeot 107 | 3/5 | 4.5/5 | 27.7% | 4.0/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the 107 if: You're a budget-conscious driver, a first-time car buyer, seeking economical city car transport, or prioritising low running costs and insurance premiums.
Consider alternatives if: You need spacious seating or boot space, are a motorway commuter sensitive to noise, or seek premium features and refinement.
Competitive Position: The Peugeot 107 (2005-2014) is an exceptionally affordable entry-level city car that excels in budget motoring. Whilst the Skoda Citigo offers superior expert ratings and the Seat Mii provides better value deals, the 107 remains highly competitive for cost-conscious buyers. Its Toyota-derived engine ensures reliability, and running costs are amongst the lowest in the segment. However, it lacks the refinement and space of rivals, and motorway capability is limited. For urban-focused drivers prioritising economy and simplicity, the 107 represents outstanding value, though those seeking more versatility should consider the Skoda Citigo or Seat Mii.

(6 reviews)Great small car cheap insurance road tax great on fuel fantastic for new driver
Good value, good performance, inexpensive to run….very pleased so far…
Good value.. Nippy little car easy to park and economical to run.
Being 84 and somewhat disabled, I have reduced my driving considerably. I like the simplicity and smallness of the Peugeot 107. I need the 5-door version because I cannot lift the shopping out of the boot. I had no longer use the keypad magic, preferring a manual lock.
Cute quiet little car, with the benefit of being an automatic
