Giving it 5* as it does look nice in battleship grey as I call it, and it drives lovely, has a lot of toys, 240v inverter, blinds in rear doors are just to name some of the items that were not mentioned.. to get the same spec in the VW Sharan, you would probably look at an additional £2k However, the leg space in the 2nd row isnt the best, felt there is more in a Vauxhall Zafira. And if I would have really searched I would have preferred the same spec car but without leather, not a fan of sticky back and legs!

Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Fantastically practical | Some potential reliability issues |
| Sliding doors a real boon | Ford S-Max is better to drive |
| Surprisingly enjoyable to drive | Luggage space tight with all seven seats in place |
Quick Summary
The Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) is a seven-seat MPV that represents a significant improvement over its predecessor. Longer and wider than the original model, it offers substantially improved cabin space and comfort for all passengers. The sliding doors are particularly practical for tight car park spaces, whilst electrically opening and closing doors were available as an optional extra. With room for a full-grown adult in each of the seven seats, integrated child seats in the middle row, and all five rear seats featuring Isofix mounts, the Alhambra is exceptionally family-friendly. Boot space is tight with all seats upright, but with the third row folded away there's 809 litres, expanding to a van-like 2,430 litres with both rear rows stowed.
The Alhambra is one of the best MPVs to drive, with decent body control, plenty of grip, and weighty steering that makes it surprisingly gratifying to handle. It's not quite as sharp as the Ford S-Max, but it's not far off. Engine options include a 1.4-litre TSI petrol and various 2.0-litre TDI diesels ranging from 113bhp to 181bhp, with manual or DSG automatic gearboxes available. Diesel models offer superior fuel economy, with realistic real-world figures between 40-45mpg depending on engine and specification. Insurance groups are reasonable, starting from group 13 for early diesels. Whilst reliability can be a concern, cars with full service histories and good maintenance records should prove dependable.
Best for: Large families needing seven seats, those prioritising practicality and versatility, and drivers seeking an MPV that's genuinely enjoyable to drive.
Not ideal for: Buyers concerned about potential reliability issues, those wanting the sharpest handling (Ford S-Max), or those with limited boot space requirements when all seats are in use.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seat Alhambra | 5/5 | 5.0/5 | 22.5% | 4.3/5 |
| Citroën Grand C4 Picasso | 4/5 | 4.9/5 | 38.4% | 4.3/5 |

| Ford S-Max | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 33.2% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Alhambra if: You need a seven-seat MPV that's genuinely practical and enjoyable to drive, prioritise versatile seating and boot configurations, or want a family car with excellent passenger comfort.
Consider alternatives if: You're concerned about potential reliability issues, want the sharpest handling dynamics, or require maximum boot space with all seats in use.
Competitive Position: The Seat Alhambra (2010-2020) is one of the finest MPVs available on the used market, offering exceptional practicality and surprising driving enjoyment. Whilst the Ford S-Max edges ahead for handling and the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso offers better value deals, the Alhambra's combination of space, versatility, and driving dynamics makes it a compelling choice for families. Its sliding doors, flexible seating, and comfortable ride quality set it apart. However, potential reliability concerns mean careful selection and full service history are essential. For those willing to choose wisely, the Alhambra represents an excellent seven-seat solution.
