Skoda Fabia Mk4 (2026) Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Very roomy interior	Some weedy engine choices
Comfortable and easy to drive	So-so warranty offering
Good value for money	Sporty Fabia 130 isn't available with a manual gearbox

Quick Summary

The Skoda Fabia Mk4 (2026) is a spacious, practical, and affordable supermini that embodies Skoda's philosophy of delivering bigger-than-average cars for smaller-than-average prices. Built on the MQB-A0 platform, it offers exceptional interior space with 380 litres of boot capacity—matching the Volkswagen Golf and exceeding the Ford Focus. The cabin quality rivals any competitor, featuring sophisticated plastics and finishes, whilst remaining generously equipped with modern technology and safety features. Comfort is paramount, with impressive refinement and a smooth ride that soaks up road imperfections effortlessly.

Engine options range from 79bhp to 148bhp across the standard range, delivering a sensible balance of performance and economy with claimed fuel consumption up to 56.8mpg. The new Fabia 130 hot hatch variant offers 174bhp and a sportier driving experience, though it's only available with a seven-speed DSG automatic. Running costs are competitive, with low CO2 emissions and affordable VED rates. For growing families and budget-conscious buyers seeking practicality without compromise, the Fabia represents outstanding value in the supermini class.

Best for: Budget-conscious families seeking maximum interior space and practicality, drivers prioritising comfort and refinement, and those wanting a well-equipped supermini with excellent value for money.

Not ideal for: Buyers seeking a manual gearbox in the Fabia 130, those wanting more powerful engine options in the standard range, or drivers prioritising sporty handling over comfort.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the Fabia if: You're seeking maximum interior space and practicality on a budget, prioritising comfort and refinement, or wanting a well-equipped supermini with excellent value for money.

Consider alternatives if: You require a manual gearbox in a sporty variant, desire more powerful engine options, or prioritise dynamic handling over comfort and practicality.

Competitive Position: The Skoda Fabia Mk4 (2026) is a standout choice in the supermini market, offering exceptional roominess, quality, and value that rivals struggle to match. Whilst the Volkswagen Polo shares similar ratings, the Fabia provides noticeably more interior space and practicality at a lower price point. The Seat Ibiza offers style but less practicality, whilst the Hyundai i20, despite its long warranty, scores lower on expert ratings. For budget-conscious families and those prioritising space and comfort, the Fabia is the clear winner, delivering a grown-up driving experience with impressive refinement and competitive running costs.
