Across various model years, drivers appreciate its fuel economy and good handling, often finding it enjoyable to drive. However, concerns regarding design choices and the aesthetic appeal have been expressed, along with some mentions of maintenance issues, particularly with the DSG gearbox. I can recommend Skodas as reliable and sturdy. I drove Skodas as Taxis for many years and more and more Taxi owners adopted them as vehicle of choice for their business.

I love this car! It has exceeded my expectations. Ive had the car for a few days, filled it up for £57 and have driven about 200 miles and there is still over half a tank left. It really is a joy to drive. Gear changing is smooth, it absorbs the bumps in the road really well. Its nippy around town and is really good to drive on the motorways picking up speed very quickly. It doesnt make too much noise when driving on the motorway. The surround sound is brilliant. Its spacious inside. I love the touchscreen functions. Love the fact also that it looks a bit sporty. I highly recommend it.

The Skoda Fabia 1.4 petrol is a cracking little car, packed brim full with useful features. It consistently comes in the top 5 small estate cars. Easy to drive, loads of space, all the safety features, excellent adjustment for seat height, fire and aft adjustment and steering wheel adjustment. Quiet to drive and very economical. Highly recommended

Skoda Fabia Mk4 Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very roomy interior | Some weedy engine choices |
| Comfortable and easy to drive | So-so warranty offering |
| Good value for money | Sporty Fabia 130 isn't available with a manual gearbox |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Fabia Mk4 is a straightforward, practical, and excellent-value supermini that prioritises comfort and spaciousness. Built on the Volkswagen Group's MQB-A0 platform, it's significantly larger than its predecessor, offering exceptional legroom for front and rear passengers. The boot capacity of 380 litres matches that of the Volkswagen Golf and Seat Leon from the class above, whilst folding the rear seats expands this to 1,190 litres. The cabin is well-finished with quality materials and sophisticated design, making it feel more premium than its price suggests.
The Fabia delivers a refined and comfortable driving experience, with impressive sound insulation and responsive steering, though it prioritises comfort over dynamic handling. Engine options range from 79bhp to 148bhp in standard models, with the new Fabia 130 offering 174bhp and a sportier setup for those seeking more excitement. Fuel economy is competitive across the range, with claimed figures around 50-57mpg depending on engine and transmission choice. As a used car, it represents outstanding value, offering practicality, quality, and generous equipment levels at a price that undercuts many rivals.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers, growing families seeking a spacious and practical car, and those prioritising comfort and refinement over sporty handling.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking a thrilling driving experience or those requiring a manual gearbox in the Fabia 130 variant.

The Verdict
You should buy the Fabia if: You're on a budget, seeking a spacious and practical car for growing families, or prioritising comfort and refinement over sporty handling.
Consider alternatives if: You require a thrilling driving experience or need a manual gearbox in the Fabia 130 variant.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Fabia Mk4 is a strong contender in the supermini market, offering exceptional value, spaciousness, and quality that rivals cars from the class above. Whilst the Volkswagen Polo and Seat Ibiza offer premium badge appeal and styling, the Fabia delivers more interior space and practicality at a lower price. The Hyundai i20 provides a longer warranty, but the Fabia's superior roominess and refinement make it the sensible choice for families and budget-conscious buyers seeking maximum value and comfort.
