Quick Summary
The Skoda Karoq is a dependable and talented small family SUV that has remained competitive nearly a decade after its launch. With a 2022 facelift and further 2024 updates, it offers excellent value, featuring a spacious interior with generous headroom and legroom for all passengers. The boot provides 521 litres of storage with standard seats, expanding to 1,810 litres with the optional Varioflex seating system, which offers three separate rear seats with a 40:20:40 split. Recent updates have introduced new trim levels (SE Edition, SE L Edition, and SportLine Edition) and enhanced standard equipment across the range.
The Karoq drives well with neat handling and a composed ride, particularly in four-wheel-drive versions with multi-link rear suspension. Engine options include a revised 1.0-litre TSI petrol (114bhp), 1.5-litre TSI petrol (148bhp), 2.0-litre TSI petrol (187bhp), and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel (148bhp). All models come with comprehensive safety equipment, achieving a five-star Euro NCAP rating, plus a connected infotainment system. Running costs are reasonable, with the 1.0-litre petrol achieving 46.4-48.8mpg and the diesel returning 44.7-49.3mpg. Service intervals are annual or every 10,000 miles, with competitive pricing through Skoda's service plans.
Best for: Families seeking a practical, spacious, and comfortable SUV with excellent standard equipment and reasonable running costs, and those who value reliability and value for money.
Not ideal for: Buyers prioritising sporty handling (Ford Kuga or Mazda CX-5 are better choices) or those seeking distinctive, eye-catching styling.

The Verdict
You should buy the Karoq if: You're seeking a practical, spacious, and comfortable family SUV with excellent standard equipment, reasonable running costs, and dependable value for money.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise sporty handling and driving engagement, or desire distinctive, eye-catching styling over practicality.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Karoq is a strong contender in the compact family SUV market, offering exceptional practicality, comfort, and value. Whilst the Ford Kuga and Nissan Qashqai offer slightly better deals and the Ford provides more engaging handling, the Karoq's superior interior space, comprehensive standard equipment, and excellent build quality make it an outstanding choice for families. The optional Varioflex seating system sets it apart, providing unmatched flexibility. With recent updates enhancing its appeal further, the Karoq remains a dependable, well-rounded SUV that prioritises practicality and comfort over flashy styling.

5 Overall rating
(7 reviews)Amazing car with lots of space. very impressed with the specs.
Great spec and pleasant driving, great value for money. Good all-rounder
Bought used approved, to replace a similar car written off in a motorway shunt. Fast enough for me, great condition , all round great car in my experience. Skoda have nailed it with a product that stands out in the VAG line up with exceptional value for money. Couldnt be more pleased.
The Karoq is a joy to drive with excellent spec for an entry level car.
Love the look, love the colour (mine is a metallic darkish blue). Enough oomph in the 1.5 engine- only problem I've got to get used to a key starter having had a push button before. And not an automatic brake, have to remember. But not really an issue!!!
