Certainly showing no signs of age other than slightly clunky graphics on the control screen. Great fun to drive.

I dont think theres anything to find fault with. Its a well-thought out car. As a family we do big drives up and down and across the UK. A 12-hour journey is a common occurrence, the key to which is ensuring the teenagers/young adults are comfortable. There are other family SUVs available that would do the job, but frankly having what may be referred to as a premium vehicle does not interest me, the Kodiaq does it all very well and has all the ride quality of a vehicle that is far more expensive. So far, so good.

Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Exceptional interior space and practicality | Interior quality feels less premium than the previous model |
| Available in petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid configurations | Ride comfort is compromised at low speeds, especially on larger wheels |
| Competitive pricing for a seven-seater SUV | Plug-in hybrid not available with seven seats |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a highly practical and spacious large family SUV that delivers exceptional versatility. Available in five or seven-seat configurations, it offers impressive boot space ranging from 745 to 910 litres depending on powertrain and seating choice. The second-generation model features a choice of 1.5-litre petrol with mild hybrid, 2.0-litre diesel, or plug-in hybrid powertrains, alongside a sporty vRS variant with 261bhp. Well-equipped across all trims with modern technology including a 13.0-inch infotainment screen and wireless charging, the Kodiaq provides excellent value for a large SUV.
Driving dynamics are comfortable rather than engaging, with light steering and stable high-speed refinement, though low-speed ride comfort can be compromised on larger wheels. The optional adaptive suspension (DCC) significantly improves ride quality. Running costs are reasonable, with the petrol achieving around 40mpg and the diesel delivering 46mpg in real-world driving. Pricing starts under £40,000, making it competitive against rivals like the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, though most models exceed this threshold and incur premium car tax.
Best for: Families needing spacious, practical seven-seater accommodation, those seeking multiple powertrain options including plug-in hybrid, and buyers prioritising value and versatility over premium badge appeal.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking premium interior materials, those wanting the finest ride comfort on standard suspension, or buyers requiring a plug-in hybrid with seven seats.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skoda Kodiaq | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 36.3% | 4.4/5 |

| Kia Sorento | 5/5 | 4.8/5 | 28.8% | 4.4/5 |
| Hyundai Santa Fe | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 32.7% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Kodiaq if: You need spacious, practical seven-seater accommodation, seek multiple powertrain options including plug-in hybrid, or prioritise value and versatility over premium badge appeal.
Consider alternatives if: You desire premium interior materials, want the finest ride comfort on standard suspension, or require a plug-in hybrid with seven seats.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Kodiaq (2024-present) is a strong contender in the large family SUV market, offering exceptional practicality and competitive pricing. Whilst it may not match rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan or Hyundai Santa Fe for premium feel, or sportier alternatives from BMW for dynamic engagement, the Kodiaq excels in delivering comfort, value, and versatility. With multiple powertrain options and flexible seating configurations, it represents an excellent choice for families seeking space and practicality without premium pricing.
