The features were excellent ,it represents good value for money given the low mileage of this car. There was nothing missing as far as we could tell.I would compare this car with the Ford Mondeo

Skoda Octavia (2004-2012) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Delivers spacious and sensible motoring | Early diesel engines are a little gruff |
| vRS versions combine performance and practicality | Not the most glamorous of badges |
| Good value for money | Stereo systems not the best |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Octavia (2004-2012), known as the Mk2, is a spacious and practical family car that delivers sensible, comfortable motoring. Built on proven engineering, it offers impressive interior space with 560 litres of boot space in hatchback form and 605 litres in the estate, rivalling cars from the class above. The second-generation Octavia improved upon its predecessor with more modern styling, enhanced practicality, and a comprehensive range of petrol and diesel engines, including the popular 1.8 TSI and 2.0-litre TDI. A major facelift in 2009 brought updated styling, new features, and additional engine options, whilst the high-performance vRS variant combines thrilling performance with genuine practicality.
Running costs are sensible, with efficient engines delivering genuine economy figures. The 1.8 TSI petrol averages around 40mpg, whilst the Greenline II diesel achieves approximately 60mpg in real-world driving. Timing belt maintenance is a consideration on many variants, typically requiring replacement every 60,000 miles or four years on petrol models. Parts availability is excellent due to Skoda's commonality with other manufacturers, and reliability is generally strong. The Octavia represents outstanding value, offering more space and practicality than comparable rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf, whilst serving as a more affordable alternative to premium marques like Audi and BMW.
Best for: Buyers seeking spacious, practical family transport, those wanting excellent value for money, and drivers interested in the vRS for performance combined with practicality.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising premium badge appeal or the most refined diesel engines, or buyers seeking cutting-edge infotainment systems.

| Ford Mondeo Mk3 | 5/5 | 4.3/5 | 33.6% | 4.4/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Octavia if: You're seeking spacious, practical family transport, want excellent value for money, or are interested in the vRS for performance combined with practicality.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise premium badge appeal, require the most refined diesel engines, or seek cutting-edge infotainment systems.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Octavia (2004-2012) is an outstanding proposition in the used family car market, offering exceptional space and practicality at competitive prices. Whilst the Mercedes-Benz E-Class provides premium appeal and the Ford Mondeo Mk3 delivers engaging driving dynamics, the Octavia surpasses both in terms of interior room and value for money. It also outperforms the Volkswagen Passat B6 in overall ratings and deal availability. The Octavia's combination of spaciousness, sensible engineering, low running costs, and the thrilling vRS variant make it a highly intelligent choice for practical buyers who refuse to compromise on value.
