Skoda Superb (2025) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Outstanding interior space and practicality | Interior design and quality don’t match premium rivals |
| Well-equipped across all trims | A BMW 5 Series is more enjoyable to drive |
| Comfortable ride and very refined | Reduced boot space in the plug-in hybrid |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Superb (2025) is Skoda's largest and most accomplished family car, now in its fourth generation. It's renowned for offering significantly more interior space and standard equipment than rivals like the Peugeot 508 and Volkswagen Passat, often at a lower price point. Available as both a hatchback and estate, it boasts an impressive 645-litre boot in the hatchback and 690 litres in the estate, making it incredibly practical for families and large items. The latest model features a cleaner look, more technology, and a broader mix of electrified powertrains, including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options.
The Superb prioritises comfort and refinement, offering a cosseting ride ideal for long-distance cruising, supported by excellent sound insulation and suspension. All models come with a DSG automatic gearbox. Engine options include a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol (148bhp), 2.0-litre diesels, and a powerful 2.0-litre petrol (261bhp); the estate also offers a plug-in hybrid with over 70 miles of electric range. Standard equipment is generous, featuring a 13.1-inch touchscreen and Skoda’s Smart Dials. Starting from around £37,000, it offers excellent value with competitive fuel economy, especially for the PHEV with its low BiK tax rate.
Best for: Buyers seeking outstanding interior space and practicality, those looking for a comfortable and refined family car for long distances, and budget-conscious buyers who want premium features without the premium price tag. Company car drivers will also benefit from the PHEV's low BiK.
Not ideal for: Drivers prioritising dynamic handling and an exciting driving experience (e.g., like a BMW 5 Series), or those who expect the absolute highest level of interior material quality to match true premium rivals like the Audi A6.

The Verdict
You should buy the Superb if: You're seeking outstanding interior space and practicality, a comfortable and refined ride for families or long journeys, excellent value for money with generous standard equipment, or a company car with low running costs (PHEV).
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise dynamic handling and a more engaging driving experience, or if you expect the very highest-end interior materials and badge appeal of true luxury brands.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Superb (2025) firmly establishes itself as one of the best-value large cars on the market. It excels in offering unparalleled space and practicality, often surpassing premium-badged rivals at a significantly lower price point. While it prioritises comfort and refinement over outright driving excitement or ultra-premium interior finishes, its comprehensive standard equipment, competitive running costs, and range of efficient powertrains make it an incredibly sensible and convincing choice for families, commuters, and company car drivers seeking maximum utility and comfort without breaking the bank.

4.6 Overall rating
(20 reviews)Slightly expensive but in very good condition! Nothing comparable. to a Skoda Superb
Good spec. Similar in size to A6 avant. Good value for what you get
Reliable robust vehicle, spectacular inside with many extras as standard. Owned one of these before, never broke, just normal running costs, amazing on fuel.
In SEL format this car is extremely well speced. It provides a great level of standard internal items which are considered high cost extras on many similar vehicles such as the Mercedes C class or Audi A4. Models to go for are the extremely frugal diesels with DSG gearboxes. Reliability is first class and running costs relatively low compared with similar cars.
Cream leather comfort encased in metallic maroon elegance. Economic space ship with cruise control. Luxury unbound.
