Skoda Superb (2025-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Outstanding interior space and practicality | Interior design and quality don't match premium rivals |
| Well-equipped across all trims | A BMW 5 Series is more enjoyable to drive |
| Comfortable ride and very refined | Reduced boot space in the plug-in hybrid |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Superb is one of the best-value large cars on the market, offering more space than premium-badged rivals at a significantly lower price. Available as both hatchback and estate, it delivers outstanding practicality with a 625-litre boot (hatchback) or 660-litre boot (estate), making it capable of handling everything from family luggage to larger items. The fourth-generation model features a cleaner design, advanced technology, and a broad mix of electrified powertrains including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options, all with DSG automatic transmission as standard.
The Superb prioritises comfort over dynamic handling, making it an accomplished all-rounder ideal for long-distance cruising with excellent sound insulation and suspension that smooths out rough roads. Engine options include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with mild hybrid delivering around 50mpg, a 2.0-litre TDI diesel achieving approximately 55mpg, a 261bhp turbocharged petrol for performance, and a plug-in hybrid with 201bhp capable of over 70 miles of electric range. All versions are well-equipped with a 13.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as standard.
Best for: Buyers seeking comfort, space, and value; families requiring a practical large car; long-distance commuters; and those wanting more practicality than similarly priced SUVs.
Not ideal for: Drivers prioritising premium interior design and quality; those seeking dynamic, exciting handling; or buyers needing maximum boot space in a plug-in hybrid model.

The Verdict
You should buy the Superb if: You're seeking comfort, space, and value; require a practical large car for families; drive long distances regularly; or want more practicality than similarly priced SUVs.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise premium interior design and quality, seek dynamic and exciting handling, or need maximum boot space in a plug-in hybrid model.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Superb stands out as the strongest contender in the large family car segment, offering superior space and practicality compared to rivals whilst maintaining excellent value. With a five-star expert rating and 4.5-star user rating, it outperforms the Volkswagen Passat, Peugeot 508, and Audi A6 Avant across both expert and user assessments. Whilst premium rivals may offer more sophisticated interior design, the Superb's combination of outstanding practicality, comprehensive equipment, refined driving experience, and competitive pricing makes it an exceptionally fit-for-purpose choice for buyers prioritising comfort and value over premium badge appeal.

4.5 Overall rating
(10 reviews)Customers say
The Skoda Superb consistently impresses owners with its spacious interior and overall value, often being compared to more expensive brands like Audi and Mercedes. Its powerful engine and smooth driving experience, bolstered by the DSG gearbox, are typically highlighted as standout features. However, some owners feel that it can be slightly overpriced and have raised concerns about visible scratches and the need for brake replacements in certain models.

What people say
Slightly expensive but in very good condition! Nothing comparable. to a Skoda Superb
I think the Skoda Superb is an excellent car I have been after buying one for quite a while now I bought the car being reviewed I collect it on Saturday the 17th of this month I think this car is excellent value for money I don t think it is missing anything in my opinion I would compare it to the Audi A3 but my heart is with the Skoda Superb I just think it’s a fabulous car
Good spec. Similar in size to A6 avant. Good value for what you get
Reliable robust vehicle, spectacular inside with many extras as standard. Owned one of these before, never broke, just normal running costs, amazing on fuel.
In SEL format this car is extremely well speced. It provides a great level of standard internal items which are considered high cost extras on many similar vehicles such as the Mercedes C class or Audi A4. Models to go for are the extremely frugal diesels with DSG gearboxes. Reliability is first class and running costs relatively low compared with similar cars.
