Customers say
The Skoda Superb consistently impresses owners with its spacious interior and overall value, often being compared to more expensive brands like Audi and Mercedes. Its powerful engine and smooth driving experience, bolstered by the DSG gearbox, are typically highlighted as standout features. However, some owners feel that it can be slightly overpriced and have raised concerns about visible scratches and the need for brake replacements in certain models.

Reliable robust vehicle, spectacular inside with many extras as standard. Owned one of these before, never broke, just normal running costs, amazing on fuel.

Skoda Superb (2025-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Outstanding interior space and practicality | Interior design and quality don't match premium rivals |
| Well-equipped across all trims | A BMW 5 Series is more enjoyable to drive |
| Comfortable ride and very refined | Reduced boot space in the plug-in hybrid |
Quick Summary
The Skoda Superb is one of the best-value large cars on the market, offering more space than premium-badged rivals at a significantly lower price. Available as both hatchback and estate, it delivers outstanding practicality with a 625-litre boot (hatchback) or 660-litre boot (estate). The fourth-generation model features a cleaner design, advanced technology, and a broad mix of electrified powertrains including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options. All versions use a smooth DSG automatic transmission, with most being front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive reserved for more powerful engines.
The Superb prioritises comfort over dynamic handling, making it ideal for long-distance cruising with excellent sound insulation and suspension that smooths rough roads. Engine options range from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with mild hybrid (148bhp, around 50mpg) to a 2.0-litre TDI diesel (148bhp or 190bhp, around 55mpg) and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol (261bhp). The plug-in hybrid estate combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for 201bhp and over 70 miles of electric range. All models come well-equipped with a 13.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as standard.
Best for: Families seeking maximum space and comfort, long-distance drivers prioritising refinement and practicality, and buyers wanting premium-car space at a fraction of the cost.
Not ideal for: Those seeking premium interior quality matching rivals, drivers wanting an engaging and dynamic driving experience, or buyers requiring maximum boot space in a plug-in hybrid estate.
Comparison vs Key Rivals

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Skoda Superb | 5/5 | 4.5/5 | 34.5% | 4.5/5 |
| Volkswagen Passat | 4/5 | 4.5/5 | 33.6% | 4.3/5 |
| Peugeot 508 | 3/5 | 4.0/5 | 31.5% | 4.0/5 |
| Audi A6 Avant | 3/5 | 4.2/5 | 30.4% | 4.0/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the Superb if: You're seeking maximum space and practicality, prioritise comfort for long-distance driving, or want premium-car space at a fraction of the cost.
Consider alternatives if: You desire premium interior quality matching rivals, seek an engaging and dynamic driving experience, or require maximum boot space in a plug-in hybrid estate.
Competitive Position: The Skoda Superb is a standout in the large car market, delivering exceptional value with outstanding interior space and practicality that rivals premium-badged competitors. Whilst it may not match the Audi A6 Avant or BMW 5 Series for interior quality or driving dynamics, its combination of comfort, refinement, generous equipment levels, and significantly lower price make it an exceptionally sensible choice. The Superb offers more space than similarly priced SUVs and represents one of the best-value large cars available today.
