Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very keenly priced | Big jump in price between Motion and Ultra spec |
| Loaded with luxury and safety kit | Some rivals have longer warranties |
| Excellent 1.4-litre petrol engine | Only adequate ride and handling |
Quick Summary
The Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) is a comprehensively reworked midsize family SUV that addresses many of its predecessor's shortcomings. With a smarter appearance, improved interior quality, decent practicality, and a more civilised driving experience, it now offers a compelling alternative in a highly competitive segment. The 430-litre boot provides adequate space for most families, whilst the well-appointed cabin features an intuitive dashboard layout and solid build quality. The standout 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo engine delivers bullish performance across the rev range, remaining smooth and quiet even under load.
Available in two trim levels—Motion and Ultra—the S-Cross comes exceptionally well equipped with luxury and safety features as standard, including automatic LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, and a reversing camera. Its aggressive pricing provides impressive value compared with rivals, though depreciation has historically been a concern. The mild hybrid powertrain delivers respectable fuel economy, with the entry-level manual achieving around 53mpg. Whilst the ride and handling are merely adequate rather than engaging, the S-Cross represents a sensible, well-rounded choice for budget-conscious family car buyers seeking maximum equipment and affordability.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking a well-equipped family SUV, those prioritising value for money and standard kit, and families needing practical, reliable transport.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking engaging handling or premium cabin ambience, those wanting the finest ride comfort, or buyers requiring extended warranty coverage.

The Verdict
You should buy the S-Cross if: You're seeking a well-equipped family SUV with excellent value for money, prioritising standard kit and affordability over premium feel or engaging dynamics.
Consider alternatives if: You desire engaging handling, the finest ride comfort, premium cabin ambience, or extended warranty coverage as standard.
Competitive Position: The Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) is a strong contender in the midsize family SUV market, offering exceptional value and comprehensive standard equipment that rivals struggle to match at comparable prices. Whilst it may not deliver the engaging driving dynamics of some competitors or match the premium feel of higher-priced alternatives, its aggressive pricing, well-rounded practicality, and excellent 1.4-litre engine make it an intelligent choice for budget-conscious families. The S-Cross now represents a far more compelling proposition than before, with its appealing blend of abilities and outstanding value positioning it as a genuine alternative to established rivals.

4.4 Overall rating
(5 reviews)Probably best value for money car at the market right now. Don't expect luxury you get a day-to-day workhorse for family that will keep you on the road for years ahead
An excellent car, really comfortable drive, great suspension, awesome boot space- can fit a double mattress with seat down! 4x4 function is better than the Vitara!. And its economical too :)
The vehicle was well equipped which I liked, I would compare it to the Mitsubishi ASX
The car appears to be robust and sound although the other items of interior may match with sister SUVs.
This car is great for people who are not very good at technology and who want: space, practicality and safety
