Probably best value for money car at the market right now. Don't expect luxury you get a day-to-day workhorse for family that will keep you on the road for years ahead

An excellent car, really comfortable drive, great suspension, awesome boot space- can fit a double mattress with seat down! 4x4 function is better than the Vitara!. And its economical too :)

The car appears to be robust and sound although the other items of interior may match with sister SUVs.

Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very keenly priced | Big jump in price between Motion and Ultra spec |
| Loaded with luxury and safety kit | Some rivals have longer warranties |
| Excellent 1.4-litre petrol engine | Only adequate ride and handling |
Quick Summary
The Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) is a comprehensively reworked midsize family SUV that addresses many of its predecessor's shortcomings. With a smarter appearance, improved interior quality, decent practicality and more civilised road manners, it now presents a far more compelling proposition. The 430-litre boot is adequate for most families, whilst the cabin offers plenty of space up front with good visibility. The highlight is the 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo engine, which pulls bullishly from anywhere in the rev range and remains smooth and quiet even when worked hard. Available in Motion and Ultra trim levels, the S-Cross comes well-stocked with luxury and safety kit as standard.
The S-Cross is aggressively priced compared with rivals, offering impressive value for money with far more standard equipment than many competitors. The mild hybrid powertrain delivers respectable fuel economy, with the entry-level manual returning around 53mpg. Whilst the ride and handling are merely adequate rather than exceptional, and rear headroom can be limited on higher-spec models with panoramic sunroofs, the overall package represents a sensible and affordable choice in a competitive segment. The four-wheel-drive option provides additional capability for those needing it.
Best for: Budget-conscious buyers seeking a well-equipped family SUV, those prioritising value for money and standard kit, and drivers wanting a practical midsize vehicle with a capable engine.
Not ideal for: Those seeking the finest ride and handling dynamics, buyers requiring maximum rear headroom, or those wanting the longest manufacturer warranties available in the class.
Comparison vs Key Rivals
| Vehicle | CarGurus Expert Rating | CarGurus User Rating | Good/Great deals % | Overall CarGurus Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suzuki S-Cross | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 38.0% | 4.3/5 |
| Hyundai Tucson | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 41.9% | 4.5/5 |
| Kia Sportage | 4/5 | 4.4/5 | 38.8% | 4.3/5 |
| Nissan Qashqai | 4/5 | 4.6/5 | 39.2% | 4.5/5 |
The Verdict
You should buy the S-Cross if: You're seeking a well-equipped family SUV with excellent value for money, prioritising standard kit and affordability over premium badge appeal or dynamic handling.
Consider alternatives if: You require the finest ride and handling dynamics, need maximum rear headroom, or prefer longer manufacturer warranties than Suzuki offers.
Competitive Position: The Suzuki S-Cross (2021-present) is now a far more compelling alternative in the midsize SUV segment than its predecessor. Whilst it doesn't match the Hyundai Tucson or Nissan Qashqai for user ratings, it offers exceptional value for money with generous standard equipment that rivals struggle to match at similar prices. The S-Cross delivers adequate practicality, a capable engine and respectable fuel economy, making it an intelligent choice for budget-conscious buyers. However, those prioritising premium feel, superior handling or the highest user satisfaction ratings may find the Tucson or Qashqai more appealing, despite their higher costs.
