Look beyond the Vauxhall Astra’s slightly dreary reputation, and you’ll find a car of surprising talent. It isn’t as sharp to drive as a Ford Focus or as well-made as a Volkswagen Golf, but there’s plenty to like. Low prices make it sensational value, and it offers a lot more equipment for the money than many more expensive rivals.

I turned up they had pressure washed the engine, it was dry when I inspected before taking it for a test drive. When I drove off test drived got back it was smoking everywhere and the man tried to tell me it was spilt engine oil.... It was not!
