Volkswagen Golf Mk5 Review (2004-2009)
4
of 5 overall
Driving4/5
Practicality4/5
Running costs4/5
Tech and equipment3/5
The Volkswagen Golf has become the default used car choice for anyone wanting to buy a premium family hatchback and the fifth-generation Golf is a vivid demonstration of why – it’s conservatively smart inside and out, well built, and offers a sophisticated driving experience. The VW Golf mk5 is available with a broad range of generally good petrol and diesel engines but has been known to suffer from a variety of reliability issues.
