Bought an old 2005 XC90 to get back and forward to work in the rainy snowy winter in Scotland. (I have an Insignia Estate as my normal drive but was struggling in the winter weather).
What a difference, great car comfortable safe and mpg not to bad averaging 37 to 38mpg. Insignia did 46mpg average.
Cant see me using the Insignia even in summer, so will be selling the new car and keeping an old one 15 years older.
All I can say is what a great car, in immaculate condition, full service history, very clean MOT history no advisories on last 5 MOTs. Fine a good one they are out there.

The car is very dated now especially in respect to its instrumentation and this particular example had blotches on its paintwork which could not be easily removed which could have been bird strikes!

XC90 is great value. Have had XcC60 and XC40, so wanted to try the XC90 for a change and it looked in a good condition for the price.

Volvo’s first-generation XC90 is a large seven-seat SUV that offers tremendous practicality, comfort and safety. It’s offered with an array of engines, from comparatively economical 2.4-litre diesels through to a 4.4-litre petrol V8 that is predictably powerful but thirsty. It’s not a cheap car to run and some of the German alternatives are better to drive. If practicality and seven seats are more important, though, it’s a good option.
