Citroën C3 Aircross (2025) Pros and Cons

Pros	Cons
Excellent ride quality	Optional third-row seating is cramped
Smart dashboard design	Engine can get noisy in petrol versions
Great value	Not particularly involving to drive

Quick Summary

The Citroën C3 Aircross is a small yet practical crossover that represents exceptional value for money. Available with petrol, mild-hybrid, or electric powertrains, it offers a spacious five-seat interior with an impressive 460-litre boot—more than many larger rivals. The optional third-row seating transforms it into a seven-seater, making it one of the most affordable multi-seat options available, though this configuration sacrifices practicality and comfort. The five-seat version is the standout choice, combining comfort, space, and affordability in a package that punches well above its price point.

Comfort is the C3 Aircross's defining characteristic, with Citroën's clever suspension smoothing over poor road surfaces with ease. The 99bhp petrol engine delivers adequate performance with 40-45mpg real-world fuel economy, whilst the 134bhp mild-hybrid variant offers improved efficiency at 45-50mpg. The electric e-C3 Aircross provides around 150 miles of range, though efficiency lags slightly behind comparable rivals. Running costs are remarkably low, with the starting price just over £20,000 making it one of the most affordable new cars on sale. The smart dashboard design and comprehensive standard equipment, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, add further appeal.

Best for: Budget-conscious families seeking maximum space and practicality, daily commuters prioritising comfort over performance, and buyers wanting an affordable electric vehicle with genuine interior room.

Not ideal for: Those requiring a genuinely spacious third row of seats, drivers seeking engaging or thrilling driving dynamics, or buyers wanting off-road capability or four-wheel-drive options.

Comparison vs Key Rivals

The Verdict

You should buy the C3 Aircross if: You're seeking maximum space and practicality on a tight budget, prioritising comfort over driving engagement, or wanting an affordable electric vehicle with genuine interior room.

Consider alternatives if: You require a genuinely spacious third row of seats, desire engaging driving dynamics, or need off-road capability or four-wheel-drive options.

Competitive Position: The Citroën C3 Aircross is a compelling proposition in the affordable family crossover segment, offering outstanding value and comfort. Whilst the Skoda Kamiq scores higher for driving refinement and the Vauxhall Frontera undercuts it on price, the C3 Aircross strikes an excellent balance between affordability, practicality, and comfort. The five-seat configuration is particularly strong, delivering more boot space than many rivals whilst maintaining the supple ride quality Citroën is renowned for. For budget-conscious families prioritising space and comfort over performance, it's a highly sensible choice.
