The Kuga has become one of Ford’s best-selling cars in the UK since the demise of the Fiesta supermini. That’s a stark contrast to the original model, which launched in 2008 and was relatively small fry in the manufacturer’s range next to its then-unbeatable hatchbacks, but sales of the subsequent two generations – launched in 2012 and 2020 respectively – have risen as buyers have flocked to SUVs. The current version represents strong competition for fellow five-seat SUVs such as the Honda CR-V, the Toyota RAV-4, and the Volkswagen Tiguan; it’s spacious, great to drive, and there’s even a plug-in hybrid option.
