Quick Summary
The Ford Kuga (2020-present) is a practical and engaging family SUV that combines the style and practicality of an SUV with the lower running costs and ease of use of a traditional hatchback. The current generation, refreshed in 2024, finally gives Ford a machine that takes the fight to class leaders. It offers excellent space with boot capacity ranging from 412 to 553 litres, expandable to 1,534 litres with rear seats folded. The commanding driving position, direct steering, and well-tuned suspension deliver genuine driver engagement without compromising comfort, making it a soothing long-distance cruiser with low noise levels.
Engine options include a turbocharged 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol, a 2.5-litre hybrid with 177-180bhp, and a plug-in hybrid with 239bhp offering 37-43 miles of electric-only range. The plug-in hybrid is particularly appealing for company car drivers, whilst the regular hybrid represents excellent value. All models feature Ford's latest SYNC 4 infotainment with 5G connectivity, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and comprehensive safety systems including Euro NCAP's five-star rating. Running costs are affordable, with the ST-Line trim offering the best value proposition.
Best for: Families seeking a practical, engaging SUV with good fuel economy, company car drivers interested in the plug-in hybrid option, and buyers wanting a well-rounded vehicle that drives better than most rivals.
Not ideal for: Those prioritising premium cabin materials, maximum boot space compared to rivals, or seeking a diesel option.

The Verdict
You should buy the Kuga if: You're seeking a practical, engaging family SUV with good fuel economy, interested in a plug-in hybrid for company car benefits, or wanting a well-rounded vehicle that drives better than most rivals.
Consider alternatives if: You prioritise premium cabin materials, require maximum boot space, or need a diesel option.
Competitive Position: The Ford Kuga is a solid choice in a crowded SUV marketplace, offering excellent practicality, engaging driving dynamics, and affordable running costs. Whilst the Kia Sportage edges ahead on expert rating and the Hyundai Tucson scores higher with users, the Kuga's superior driving experience and plug-in hybrid option make it highly competitive. The Peugeot 3008 offers more luggage space, but the Kuga's engaging handling and value proposition make it an underdog worth serious consideration. If you're in the market for a family SUV, don't dismiss the Ford Kuga until you've driven one.

What people say
Plenty of room inside, good styling, seat arrangements give versatile usage of boot space, prices do fluctuate a lot depending on mileage.
Great car, very lively, lots of room. Very well made. Whats not to like
Comfortable to drive good to have a well looked after car, fuel consumption is decent obviously the car is heavy so that factors in. I took a few hours to get the hang of the controls and sat nav as well as linking phone and will probably need a few more to get total abillity to navigate but I'm very happy with the car also it was very clean in and out the only down fall and not much of one is the wing mirrors are electric but don't fold in electricly which when parking is nice to have in certain areas so they don't get hit when you have to do them manualy sometimes you forget
For a 2013 SUV, the Titanium X trim is well-equipped, especially considering it’s now over a decade old Decent price especially with full service history.
the car has great features, However it has s wet cam belt, which needs replacing before 60000 miles, At a cost of approx £1500. Thats just 4500 miles left.
