Great value and the Ultimate is well equipped with everything that will ever be needed. Hyundai quality has developed and now competes alongside other more costly brands. The 5 year warranty is a big plus. Looking forward to some economical and practical motoring in the Tucson

Hyundai Tucson (2021-present) Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lots of standard kit | Not all that fun to drive |
| Five-year warranty | Unsettled ride on big 19-inch wheels |
| Choice of hybrid powertrains | Plug-in hybrid range not a match for best in class |
Quick Summary
The Hyundai Tucson (2021-present) is a midsize family SUV that has evolved from a budget offering into an aspirational vehicle capable of competing with premium brands. The current generation, which received a facelift in mid-2024, features distinctive styling with segmented front lights and Coke-bottle curves, complemented by a striking interior with twin silver trim lines and curved infotainment screens. Space is generous throughout, with 620-litres of boot space in non-hybrid models and comfortable accommodation for five passengers, though the ride can be unsettled on larger 19-inch wheels.
The Tucson offers a range of powertrain options, including a non-hybrid 1.6-litre turbo petrol, mild hybrids, a self-charging hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid with around 40 miles of electric-only range. Whilst not particularly engaging to drive, it's an easygoing companion that delivers smooth, quiet performance and impressive efficiency figures, particularly the self-charging hybrid which achieves over 50mpg. With generous standard equipment across all trim levels, a five-year warranty, and strong build quality, the Tucson represents excellent value for money in the family SUV segment.
Best for: Families seeking a spacious, well-equipped SUV with hybrid options, those prioritising comfort and practicality over driving dynamics, and buyers wanting premium-feel quality at a competitive price.
Not ideal for: Drivers seeking an engaging, fun-to-drive experience, those sensitive to ride quality on larger wheels, or buyers requiring the longest plug-in hybrid electric range available.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hyundai Tucson | 4/5 | 4.8/5 | 41.9% | 4.5/5 |

The Verdict
You should buy the Tucson if: You're seeking a spacious, well-equipped family SUV with hybrid options, prioritising comfort and practicality, or wanting premium-feel quality at a competitive price.
Consider alternatives if: You desire an engaging, fun-to-drive experience, are sensitive to ride quality on larger wheels, or require the longest plug-in hybrid electric range available.
Competitive Position: The Hyundai Tucson (2021-present) is a strong contender in the midsize family SUV market, offering excellent value and generous standard equipment. Whilst the Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan edge ahead on expert ratings and overall appeal, the Tucson matches them on user satisfaction and offers competitive deal availability. The BYD Seal U presents exceptional value, though with less established user feedback. The Tucson's strength lies in its blend of premium feel, practical design, hybrid options, and warranty coverage, making it an excellent choice for families prioritising comfort and equipment over driving excitement.
